Blizzard of 78 English Brown Ale by Wormtown Brewery. Cheers!

 

Making my first visit to Wheat Head Brewing, located in the Horse Heaven Hills, about 5 miles south of Kennewick, Washington.

The owners built it with the idea of it being a "venue brewery," so it's big, with very high ceilings (and correspondingly bad acoustics), and a tremendous view of the hills. Weirdly, although there's plenty of room for, say, a wedding, there's no kitchen, so they're totally reliant on food trucks for providing food to patrons.

Ornery IPA:

Very old school WCIPA. Very bitter, grapefruity and piney stuff.

I may post a picture of the view, but it's in the low 40s and gusting about 50mph (not unheard of around here; if the English language originated in this area, it'd have around 30 words for wind), so I may just run for the car.

Whipping up some shepard's pie. Son is unexpectantly home for the holidays after completing another submarine patrol. "Unexpectantly" b/c he gave us the wrong date and had to fetch him from airport in Albany last night at 1am (~1h30min away). Cheers.

NBW and ISIL cross-post. Amorphic Beer 2024 Major Particles. An imperial stout aged in J. Henry & Sons rye and bourbon barrels with Madagascar vanilla. This is a decent barrel-aged imperial stout, but not as good as many others from the emerging craft beer scene in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. @brewskis, this is my first beer from Amorphic Beer. I plan to stop in there very soon.

I've been working on this tune for a while, as of today I consider it done. Kind of a jazzy tune ..

 

Two Hearted is a classic Tom. I've never had the Red version but a more substantial malt bill to an IPA is welcomed these days.

 

That dark thing in the back is a honey glazed turkey. The beer in the front is really good.
