What beer would you like? One I haven't tried.

    Hey BA peeps. I am a Ratebeer refugee who just finds beer interesting. The science (release the yeasty boys), the culture (if it was mostly in September, why call it Oktoberfest. And why is October all funky), the business ( who knew that so few own so much), and then there is the sublime joy of the finished product. I admit I lean top fermentation, with a severe weakness for hops. But my curiosity has helped me branch out and discover life beyond the IPA and Pale Ale.

    Your decimal system scared me at first, or maybe I was lazy, but I found myself over the last few years lurking because BA ratings seemed more grounded. And who knew about the Forums?

    Anyway, glad to be here. Glad you gave me a place to land. Glad you haven't held my lurking against me.

    @ttoadee we're glad that you landed here, and you don't need to concern yourself that you were a lurker. Now that you're aboard you'll find yourself with access to many features besides the forums that you can now enjoy.

    Welcome to Beer Advocate @ttoadee ! I was on Rate Beer as well, mostly to rate beers with my middle brother (my youngest brother is already here). To me, Rate Beer had advantages over BA, such as European participation and additional European geographical information, and better Place rating attributes.

    I always found the scoring more strict there. I averaged 0.4 above average there with my ratings and 0.4 below average here.

    The forums here is what has kept me primarily active here, especially after the sale . I hope to see you in our forum. We have a WBAYDN thread similar to post the beer your drinking at Rate Beer, which you’ll find me daily, and a New BeerWeekend with a good discussion of the new to us beers we are trying.
