Clear, brown pour, dark brown appearance in the glass, nearly opaque; thick, frothy and creamy head; smoothly sculpted appearance. Fantastic nose; dark, roasted malt grains; roasted nuts; toasted toffee. Rich, malty flavor; roasted grains and hazelnuts; excellent bitterness undercurrent; mocha. Heavy body; smooth and chewy; outstanding residual sugar feel; warm.

This old ale remains exquisite. It is robust, tasty, and made to sip slowly. Seemingly simple at first, it delivers great depth and complexity to the palate. A real joy to savor.

Mildly hazy, deep copper red colored body with a thick, chunky, creamy head. Big roasted nut aroma mixed with hearty roasted grain scents; almost smokey; subtle caramel; woody; some subtle alcohol warmth at the end of the finish. The flavor amplifies the aroma characteristics with the addition of an intense bitterness. Creamy, silky mouthfeel; dry bitterness and finish.

A most impressive winter ale. Massive in flavor and aroma and with a most pleasingly soft and warm impression on the palate. A must try...

Thanks Vann! I'm a bit gravitationally challenged currently.

I need to be half the man you just hung out with come mid-June haha!

    Cheers!

Phase Three Just Use Your Wings (7.5% no canning date): An American IPA from Chicago with Centennial, Cascade, and Chinook with flavors of orange citrus rind, tangerine, stonefruit, pine, and caramel. Clean and dry.

Another Phase Three IPA. This is their Winter IPA. Lots of West-Coast hop flavors. Expecting sort of malt-forward old-school hop flavors here. Pours beautiful. The aromas were milder than expected. The flavor is also a bit milder. Some caramel upfront with some hop flavors of orange citrus rind, tangerine, stonefruit. Finishes clean and dry.
Overall, a bit milder than I expected. Somewhat muted on the aromas and flavors, but they are there. It's nothing remarkable. No trickery, I call it how I see it. I'd give it a 3.95 rating. Good, not quite great.

The Blue Door! I have to say i was tempted to stop in while in Hendersonville this afternoon but alas did not. I am sure this was amazing based on my Brew 6000 experience!
We are back from lunch earlier at Hillman in South Asheville and our H-Ville errands, enjoying a lovely coffee porter from Pizza Port. Listening to Sirius.
    Cheers!

Have not thought about this brew for a long time, been around 10 years since i have had it but man it was so good back in the day. How's it drinking in the "modern" IPA era?
    Cheers!

I find it as solid as ever. The carton has been newly redesigned to say "Citrusy & Aromatic". They should have said that at the beginning.

Congrats on being drawn Marc! I got tired just driving up that road! Best of luck training!

Missed seeing this great seasonal in the Fall. One of my favorites for the Old Ale style.

A more elaborate answer to a movie that doesn’t deserve it: both Kidman and Banderas are great actors and it’s not onto them, blame poor script, dialogues and overall insipid weirdness. Cheers Larry!
