Good Saturday Advocates! I've noticed a lot of collabs going on in my area the last 3 or 4 months. It has made for some interesting beers. Stumbled over this one at my local store this morning.

Creature Comforts - Firestone Walker Pibo Pilsner 5.2%. Most everyone is familiar with Pivo Pils. CCB is less known for its Bibo Pilsner (rated 88 by BA). This beer combined both. Turned out nicely. I've never had Pivo but this does remind me of Bibo, but a little less bitter. Ran $15 - $16/ 4 pk. Bibo runs $11-$12. Makes it hard to justify the extra $$$ for the collab. Good beer though.



I didn't notice the art work on the back of the can until after I took the original pic. Cool can label.

Dime for the jukebox!

 

1) Half Acre Ridge Tree (4.5%): A Czech Dark Lager from Chicago with flavors of dark cocoa, dark fruit, sweet espresso.
versus
2) Third Space Good Cheer (5.4%): A German Dunkel from Wisconsin with flavors of dark grains, cocoa, oak and earth, faint roast. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Dark Lager Battle. First is Half Acre Ridge Tree. A Czech Dark Lager. Dark chocolate, dark fruit, some sweet espresso, smooth.
Next is Third Space. Listed as a Dunkel, but drinks dark, slightly roasted like a Czech Dark lager. Similar, but slightly more grains and roast.
Both are very good. Leaning toward Half Acre, but will probably have to repeat this battle sometime.
Winner: Half Acre Ridge Tree

 

He has a real Jeff Beck feel to his latest playing - even abandoned the pick for his fingers like Beck did. Hope you're able to join us later on this evening- cheers!!

Last pour at The Seed is a big one (Mrs. Mac is driving today): Old Doctrines, a Double Barrel Strong Ale (14.6%) brewed with Timber Ales in NYC. Sublime drinking; I wish it were bottled. Cheers from Atlantic City!
