This place does have cooked food. The baked oyster is quite well made. The garlic sauce doesn't overpower the oyster flavor.


Lamb chop at a Japanese buffet is another rare sight, surprisingly fine with a Sapporo.

A stormy, rainy Saturday has put a damper on my plan to smoke some ribs today, so I have called an audible and attempting to experiment a little. Slow bake these in the oven, wrapped tight and added some Westmalle Dubbel in the foil to add some interest since I won't have the smoked flavor I like. We'll see how this goes. And yes, the chef did sample the Westmalle to make very sure it's up to quality. Cheers!

It's Saturday/Sunday. Where the hell are the VB peeps?

 

In East Texas for a work party, Mrs O and I are in Gladewater, which is pretty renowned for its antique shops. First up, some lunch and a beer. This is Juicy IPA from St Arnold Brewing Company, a very nice, flavorful, easy drinking IPA that I’d gladly try again.

 

Fantastic stuff.

 

Hel & Verdoemenis. The imperial stout from De Molen, internationally also known as Hell & Damnation.
Made a short stop on my drive home at De Molen today. To pick up some beers before the industrial brewery that bought De Molen may end production. By the way; nothing sure about that at the moment, I was told (unofficially). In the worst case production will pop up again in another setting, I believe. Craft and industry, ... let's not get started with that discussion here

Lunch is lamb meatballs with broc/cauli and ziti with garlic bread. Beer is Mason Ale Works Hops of Doom DIPA. Typical FL weather, 85 and overcast today, hasn't rained in 2 weeks and tomorrow, since it's the Daytona 500 there's a 75% chance of rain with winds 20-30 mph......

Slow cook going. Well so far near halfway point. Man do I miss the warm sunny months when I grill outside. Much more relaxing. Time for a refreshing Hamm's!

 

Yikes. Doesn't sound like they will get the race in tomorrow. Even if they do, they may have to weigh those cars down with those wind speeds.

 

Xavier looking alright so far today. Just ordered some food for delivery. Having another Urban Artifact Spicy Pickle.
