Ooooh niiiiice! I'm a little jealous. Yes, I love Volksgarten. It's a dead on Vienna Lager, as they should be. I'm hoping that Schilling will be down for Little Beer Fest again on March 29 in Duluth. If they are and they bring some Volksgarten or this one, I may not leave their tent.

I'm all banged up from last night and was worried i wouldn't enjoy even a sip. Oh was I wrong... this stuff is magical.

By far the best example of the style I've yet tasted, all 3 of the best have been from Schilling... shocker.

 

That's what most people don't realize about Vienna Lager. It's a magical hangover cure.

Hey, @tekstr1der, this is as close to Schilling Beer as I can get at the moment. A Czech Pale Lager collab with Good Word. Sadly, my last one. A very close cousin to Schilling's Alexandr. Wonderful beer I hope Todd DiMatteo does again. Cheers!

Aside from Schilling the only other readily available Czech stuff around here is mostly from Notch.

Our local Whole Foods used to have the best prices in town for flights and taps. The word got out and then they did away with flights and raised their tap prices. Because of it, I rarely go there anymore and when I do, it isn't the bustling beer stop that it used to be. They need to either re-think their business model or get a new Store Manager.

 

It was only available at Good Word Brewing here in GA. I've never had Notch but Chris Lohring's reputation is well known, even down South. He knows how to make quality lagers.

Good Word had their 7th anniversary back in the Fall and brewer/owner Todd DiMatteo put together some awesome collabs. He's well respected in the craft beer world and loves doing collabs. The ones with Schilling, Fox Farm, and Bierstadt beers were stellar - no surprise. Thrilled we got a chance to enjoy those.
