Yep, takes 15-20 minutes to get it going but gets the wood smoke going on a gas grill.

 

Back at it here ba. Dreamers of dreams, dipa, Sand City/ finback/ root + branch- triple team collabo. No sure on the hop profile but it’s decently hop forward and rather dry drinking. Muted fruit notes with white wine. Different and perhaps that’s the point? Not very good, and I’m glad I only grabbed one can,

 

Good morning everyone. Drinking a Rogue Ales Honey Kölsch on this beautiful Sunday. Not a fan of the time change, wish they’d just pick one way and leave it alone. Or better yet permanently split the difference by a half an hour. Sounds fair enough to me!

1) Phase Three Unchecked Imagination (7.8% canned 1/17/25): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra and Moteuka with flavors of orange, lemon, lime, and mango.
versus
2) BlackStack KPIs (8.3% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with HBC 602 Nectaron for flavors of lemon, bright pineapple, grapefruit, white grape, and mango. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Happy Sunday BeerAdvocates and I usually do the best beer battles on Sundays. This is Phase Three vs BlackStack NEIPA Battle.
First is Phase Three, Unchecked Imagination (My rating 4.40). Citra and Moteuka to give a complex flavor of orange, lime, and green grape. Complex and dynamic flavors.
Next is BlackStack KPIs (My rating 4.17), some New Zealand Nectaron for some white grape, grapefruit with the classic pineapple and mango from BlackStack. Fantastic as well.
These are both amazing and I'd say World-Class. One of Phase Three and BlackStack's best IPAs and possibly the best I've had from each of them in the past few months. Tough to call a winner. This is superb from BlackStack, but GD this Phase Three hop combo hits on a new level. This is one of my highest rated IPAs on BeerAdvocate for what it's worth.

Gnosis NZ C-Pils (NZ Cascade). Nice yellow grapefruit, raspberry, and pine from the hops in a crisp and clean cracker malt package. Nicely done.

 

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout...love this one as always.
