I'm prepping a fondue party for my mother's birthday tomorrow.
Cheesecake is in the oven, table set, just have to prepare the food bits.
With my illness, it's rough work these days. This one is for medical reasons, and it still tastes good, floaters & all!

The plan was to go to my favorite Belgian beer spot in town, Cafe Brussels, and have lunch with an Orval...as it is that wonderful time known as Orval Day

Unfortunately, they were all sold out. The tiny cafe was packed, and everyone was drinking Orval...wait a minute, this is suppose to be my unknown spot, why is every seat full ha. Oh well, good that they are getting business.

So, what do I do? I have a La Chouffe of course, and a big pot of mussels, with a Roquefort cheese sauce Excellent.

 

1) Phase Three Chrome (7.8% no canning date): A NEIPA from Chicago with Vic Secret, Citra, Motueka & Mosaic for flavors of grapefruit, guava, pineapple, sweet grape.
versus
2) BlackStack KPIs (8.3% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with HBC 602 and Nectaron for flavors of lemon, bright pineapple, grapefruit, white grape, and mango. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Phase Three vs. BlackStack IPA Battle.
First Phase Three Chrome. Some Vic Secret for some passionfruit with a dank grape must from Mosaic and some smooth lime from Motueka. Great stuff.
Next is BlackStack KPIs. Some nice New Zealand hops here. Bright from the HBC 602 and smooth stonefruit from Nectaron with a pineapple and mango flavor signature of BlackStack IPAs. This one is outstanding. Two of the best breweries I know of. I'm leaning toward BlackStack in this beer battle.
Winner: BlackStack KPIs

 

Righteous Nap, a west coast pils by Fait la Force in Nashville while I mix some jazz. Huge grassy, grapefruit aroma with a lovely blend of German pils malt flavors and snappy west coast hops. Bright, bitter, and clean, it's really great after a busy morning and a LONG week.

 

Good ol’ Harp lager at Churchkey Pub in Edmonds. Haven’t had this in ages!

They have many beers I like, so I could adjust and grab a couple half pours, but I couldn’t hide my disappointment.
