Hey BAs! First beer of the day, sitting outside drinking an Atomic Torpedo in the front yard/driveway:


Another low humidity, sunny breezy day. Mrs. Z and I took the dogs to the St. Pete Pier/park for a long walk around. Enjoying tonight’s sunset. Cheers y’all!

 

I found this one on a clearance rack a few years ago. I was saving it to share with a friend, but I haven't seen him in years.
So, to clear out space, I'm drinking it.
It's not as bad as the 2002 Bigfoot, but I'm certain it was better 10 years ago.
Not a drain pour, but definitely past its prime. It's getting a little vinious, but some of that could be the bourbon barrel aging. I am not a fan of bourbon in my beer.
But anyhoo, down the hatch it goes with 10 bucks not wasted.

I suppose for a 12 yr old barrel aged strong ale, it's ok now at best.

Oven roasted barbeque chicken and fresh asparagus for dinner ....

 

Wife asked me to make a big batch of chili, so I started around 8 this morning and I’m pleased to report that it’s coming along nicely. Five dried chiles (ancho, guajillo, arbol, New Mexico red, and Morita), which I use to make kind of a paste; four fresh chiles (habanero, jalapeño, serrano, and Fresno red); three types of beans (black, pinto, and kidney), plus about 3 lb beef and a few other things to hold it together. Just took a taste and it’s on point, maybe my best yet.

Will enjoy a Dark Mild from Machine House out on the porch while it continues to simmer. Cheers!
