Damn, dude, I remember those early NoVa Beerfest days! Trying to remember if I was there in 98 or 99, but that was a good fest! Cheers... (high school and college in VA)

    1) Stone IPA (6.9% canned 5/3/2025): A West-coast IPA with flavors of bitter lemon, apricot, orange, and resinous pine. Bitter and resinous
    versus
    2) Pizza Port Swami’s (6.8% canned 2/23/25): A West-Coast IPA from California with flavors of bitter lemon peel, dank pine. Clean and bitter. (Mismatched the two blind)

The Stone vs Pizza Port WCIPA Battle. Did this battle last summer and Pizza Port was the clear winner being far more bitter. Now another test with the Pizza Port at 4 months and the Stone within 2 months. On initial impression, the stone was more aromatic with citrus and pine. Swami's seemed to have more pronounced lemon, but the flavors and bitterness weren't as pronounced given the age. I do think this was better when fresh, but also goes to show a fresh Stone IPA is hard to beat.
    Winner: Stone IPA

Very Green. The question one faces when drinking one world-class TH beer after another is why don't I drink only Tree House all the time? First-world problems.

Very Impressed, and Congratulations. Makes my measly 1 mile loop yesterday at Rabbit Mountain seem downright feeble. And it was!

Man that looks awesome, and all I have is a burger thawing, dang!

On a random track playlist I was listening to I fell asleep and then woke right up when Johnny came on singing "The First Time Ever I saw Her Face" The guy has a way!

#2, I picked this up at the brewery this past week in Boston, and, if you like BA pastry stouts, this is outstanding, IMHO. Lots of rich milk chocolate and vanilla, with the barrel providing a little booze and the roasty peanuts a little salt to provide a perfect balance. World class stuff, again IMHO.

Hahah! I never knew that, sir. Curious where you were and where did you go? (Can DM me if you want).

For the thread, having a biere de Sonoma (Perdition) now, a somewhat sweet lightly brown beer inspired by biere de garde according to the write up - finishes dry enough with a little earthy spice.
