Had a nice dinner if of pulled pork Mac and cheese, did a bunch of chores in the heat and humidity, now enjoying my somewhat close to safe to swim in pool and having the second best beer associated with the Field Museum.

I had some songs for tonight cued up, but when Pandora drops one of your favorites in “dive bar anthems” (very first decade 2000’s heavy), you go with it.

We bailed on the farmer's market for dinner this evening, so I solicited dinner recommendations from the kids. Baked chicken parm was the runaway leader. Not my best stab at it, but really damn good regardless - and with a couple of Sips of Sunshine to keep me company during the process.

My son and I are trying the last Tree House beer from my trip to Saratoga Springs. This one is Big Bear Barrel Blend, their Imperial Brown Ale. Super beer!

Greetings LNBAers! Having my June beer tonight, 2010 Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel 4D. No carb. but it aged well, now a simple, still barleywine that is quite delicious. Full review in Cellar Reviews. Sorry for stock image but am still unable to post pics. Better'n I can do anyway. [IMG]
Thought you might enjoy this memory brought back by this beer, which Alex did have to go in the back to get me my "limit". I'm betting you guys will appreciate it. It's even possible some of you OG guys may have run in to Alex, or know about DeCicco's. This was before the bigger stores opened in the DeCicco's chain, and this grocery store in Ardsley was way too small for its determination to be the premier craft beer store in Westchester NY, back when we still were a niche community. This store had a metalhead beer nerd named Alex running the dept., which was just a part of the deli dept, with some bottles displayed, a few small coolers, and signs with beers listed, all crammed into a small area, but mainly you had to ask Alex for what you wanted, the better stuff was "in the back"

I stopped going to Ardsley when Brewster opened, since it was closer, a much bigger store with an incredible amount of retail space and one of the best craft beer pubs attached to it, so you could shop while drinking the best tap list in the Hudson Valley. I found out Alex got fired when it was discovered he'd hidden a stash of beer for years in the store's attic that he planned to buy but never did. He never stole anything, but the guy was a pack rat for sure. I know this because the stash of beers he had was put on the shelf at the Brewster store I shopped weekly and it took up a whole aisle by itself! I bought a good number of the incredible beers Alex had stashed, and wished I'd had much more money as I would have bought them all. Glad to say there were no hard feelings with Chris and the other DeCiccos and I shared drinks with Alex a few times at the Brewster pub.

Sorry for the long ramble but this beer (and hg bong tokes) is getting me going for sure. Cheers!
