Perfect score here in the ratings. 100/100. My first time.
It is not totally my favorite style of beer, but I will not tamper with the 100%.

It’s market Wednesday here in Kenora, just a short walk from our friend’s house, next to the harbor. We also hit a few stores including the liquor store for wine and Canadian IPAs. Back on the deck drinking a “Nautical Disaster” IPA:

    1) Arbeiter Figurati (5.2%): An Italian Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of bright lemon, flower, and dank pine.
    versus
    2) Arbeiter HAHA Pils (5.1%): A German Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, floral notes, and pale Munich malt. Bitter, floral, and clean. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Arbeiter Pilsner Battle. First is Figurati, their Italian Pilsner. Intensely hoppy. Lots of lemon and floral notes. Almost soapy. Quite noticeably wrecks the palate. I think they got the hop right here.
Next is HAHA Pils, their German Pilsner. This won Gold at the GABF 2024 in the category. Bitter, floral and clean. World-Class Pilsner.
Arbeiter can make some banger pilsners.
    Winner: Arbeiter HAHA Pils

From a 22oz bottle. No date on the bottle.

Great hiss and pop upon opening the bottle. Nice wafting carbonation smoke coming from the bottle. The color of the beer is somewhere between golden and amber. The beer starts out clear, but gets murky when I get the rest of the beer into the glass. There's just a huge stream of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. The head is 2 finger in size and slightly off white with decent retention. There's no lacing on the glass.
The aroma is very tart smelling. There's issues because of the age of the bottle with wet cardboard notes in the aroma. I am getting some citrus, but it's hard to differentiate the aromas, though orange does stand out a bit.
Taste - faint wet cardboard flavor hits my throat, but goes away right away. The flavor then goes to - Woah! The beer has a ton of orange in the flavor. Wow, it does make me pucker slightly, in a good way. The guava shows up with a hint of sweetness to cut the tartness slightly. I think I am also getting passion fruit, but I don't know that flavor too well.
The tartness of the beer does linger in my throat and coats it. This beer does have a nice full body for the ABV.
Well, I didn't know what to expect when I bought this old beer a month ago. I am quite happy with the results. I would wager it has held up well.

Lone Pint Little Rose in the glass.

It is Manfred Eicher's birthday today...normally I can commemorate a specific musicians birthday, but Eicher is a music producer and the founder of ECM records in Germany. Which is one of the most fiercely independent labels around. He started it in 1969, and is still the owner and producer. The label continues to put out music at a ridiculous pace, and I think basically all music labels should be run like this. The labels motto.."the most beautiful sound next to silence."

First ECM album up today...Enrico Rava's Quartet. This guy is awesome.
