Same here, and I like a few of them, but the economic value of Trumer keeps bringing me back.

Doesn't hurt that it's just about perfect as a German Pils!
Same here, but Paulaner and Weihenstephaner grab my attention -- along with a few other lesser knowns.

    You sure do!

I replied to you a few years ago:

"And I enjoyed drinking their Kölsch and Pilsner when I visited the brewery in Hood River.

    Cheers to pFreim!"

The other Pilsner which was a 'highlight' for me was a Pilsner I drank at the Von Ebert brewery taproom.

    Cheers!

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Jack. At TW the 4-packs are def. not refrigerated.. just sitting on the shelves at room temp. I'll have to check other nearby TWs to see if I could find a fresher batch..

So it hit July and guilt struck me that I hadn't bought any Summerfest this year. Yeah, budget and cut-backs being a big part of life these days. So I got the last 12-pack at the local big-box.

Well, amazingly my first sip of a 2025 really made me think of the ever-popular (at my house) Trumer -- and I never made that distinction in previous years. So yeah, a side-by must.

Northern California Pilsner showdown (and yeah, I know SN calls theirs a Bohemian*, but really?)

Two different recipes, but boy -- are these two really similar. The Trumer's hop character might be a bit more earthy, but they aren't too far off. And sure, both very drinkable and satisfying.

Drekker Big Lump O-Knobs Corn Lager (American Adjunct Lager), 5% ABV. Pours light-golden with a 3+ snow-white head that left great lacing. Aroma is corn. Taste is sweet corn, and slightly bitter hops. Decent mouthfeel, overall very good. The can is crushable.

If the price was the same as the flagship bmc AALs, would you prefer this to them? Assuming the price of the Drekker is double that of those bmc AALs, which would you choose to buy? Assuming you had to pick between the two?

I'm not really into lagers, and only drink them when they're Drekkers because I review all Drekkers that come to our market. I don't like bitter beers, so I wouldn't rate this as high as other lagers I've had, and if cost is a primary concern, it rarely makes sense to drink craft over macro.

    Cross-post from WBAYDN...
Getting into a Burial 12th Anniversary colab Belgian Pils with Halfway Crooks called Sturdy. Burial is solid with lagers but with Halfway Crooks involved this brew could be very good.
Malt base is biscuit dominated, and the Brewer's Gold hopping brings a wood dominated flavor that is quite spicy, more coriander like rather than black pepper that the Noble hops typically bring to the Pils style. This is different but a good different, rated 4.21 Overall. Glad Halfway Crooks was involved!
    Cheers!

Hey @CarolinaCardinals, where should I send this thing? It’s shipping with a return receipt. I would prefer one of them spotted bears, but any ol’ bear will do. Thanks in advance.

@SLeffler27 No bear sightings recently, just a random deer nibbling at the vegetation on my neighbor's property yesterday morning while watering their garden. Could not get the money shot about 20 feet away.
Enjoying a von Trapp Czech Pilsner. Unfortunately, it is past the expiration date of 7-17-25 and suspect the hopping has faded as it is not as spicy compared to other examples on the back end. Still a nice beer. Hope to find a fresher version in the near future.
    Cheers!

Well... It's time for the season of lager. This is the just our haul from yesterday (these all arrived this week at our local shops) and still have a few others we are waiting on... Per usual, doing our score cards and tastings this year which will eventually result in our finalist blind tasting and Oktoberfest pick of 2025.
