Hah! Ola Dubh 12-year version. What an odd bird. Sort of a hoarhound meets railroad tie aroma. Flavor is a ride in terroir, slight peat, some molasses, a cleansing whiskey toward the rear. Definitely not a summer beer. Too thin to be a winter beer. I’d put this on the list as an autumn shoulder season beer. $20. I might not revisit it, but it’s definitely one to try.

 

They just released raisin d’etre, so there is hope!

 

My last Bell’s Tropical Hopslam. This is a nice summer version of this beer. I still prefer the OG.

 

Look at that framing of the fire erupting from the glass. Artistry I say!

 

Gotta downshift after two whomping dark beers extraordinaire! Some Narragansett is perfect!

Glad you like it, if I remember right it was a Black Friday 2023 Milwaukee release. I stood in line in the wind before they opened. I also brought a bottle of peach brandy barley wine from Wild Mind in Minneapolis to the green bay bash. Not sure who ended up with that bottle but I would not age that bottle. Wild Mind is closing down soon. I never tried the Wild Mind BW. Odds are the Central Waters beer is much better

I have only drank a few of the beers I pick up at the meet so far. I am half on the wagon for health reason for now.

 

No matter what i do, dinner is never early. Should have skipped the office today. TArantula Hill “Liquid Candy” hazy. Ive graduated to ales that are only 90 days old, but it’s still quite good. Goes well with Hong Kong style Chinese food.

 

Carton makes good stuff, so the price of admission might be acceptable once in a while. Cheers!

 

The first show I ever binge watched. What a classic. Bunk was the best.

 

I really should bite the bullet. I wish there were more BAs in my area that liked the stuff I like. They’re out there, but they are difficult to coax out of their shells. If I can do it, so can they.

 

The Mountain Gypsies did a great version of this. This is a great song that has so many great takes IMHO
