What beer are you drinking now? #4673

1) Toppling Goliath DDH King Sue (7.8% canned 6/16/25): A NEIPA from Iowa with flavors of orange citrus zest, flower, pineapple and mango skin. Bright and clean.
versus
2) Phase Three DDH Double Pixel (8.0% canned 7/1/25): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra cryo for flavors of orange, lime, smooth green melon and citrus flower. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two blind)

DDH Citra IPA Battle. Phase three vs. Toppling Goliath. First is The King, double-dry-hopped. Hot orange, cantaloupe melon, mango. Somewhat meaty and hot in my impression.
Next is Phase Three Double Pixel. Orange, smooth lime, green melon. Light flower. Incredibly smooth.
Both I'd give World-Class, The hops are more intense from King Sue, but the smoothness and drinkability from Phase Three Double Pixel is incredible. I rarely say this but...
Winner: Phase Three Double Pixel

Finally getting around to trying this one and, by the founding fathers, do they do IPAs right. Of all the unlikelihoods, getting into resinous IPAs might be among the most surprising. And this is so well-balanced - the crispness and cleanness really let the mix of flavors stand out.

Got to enjoy something while looking at all the real fun going on here.

 

Another from my trip out to Fox farm. Refluent. They label it as a “west coast IPA.” I’m enjoying it immensely. Zucca is less interested in it.
