    ...the TIPA color kind of threw me, too (I expected a lighter color)...but, I'll tell you what, it is one tasty sucker...bring some leafy lettuce and rustic bread over, and we'll have some delicious BLTs right away...I have plenty of beer and some tasty auxiliary vices we can all indulge in (if so inclined)...:grin:...

    Zundert Qudrupel. Still around and Trappist, but probably not for long anymore (not enough people choose a monk career)
    The town of Zundert is also the birthplace of the artist Vincent van Gogh. Not much to see in the town (paintings are in the museum in Amsterdam), but the house where he lived with his family is open to the public.

    Auvers sur Oise being the place where he died, literally next to my town. He’s all over this town here too: the bedroom where he eventually passed and lived his last weeks, the Auberge Ravoux, the house of the Doctor Gachet who took care of him. Some of his most famous painting were created here in this prolific end of life. But also in Arles, southern France. An adventurous life that could only end tragically for this troubled soul.

    Pours a dark, purplish-black color, opaque in the glass, thin to no head other than a thin, light khaki ring around the glass interior. Rich, dark malt nose; sublime roasted and charred grain notes, infused raw barrel oak and tannins; slight herbal note; green tobacco. Rich and luscious flavors; milk chocolate and cocoa powder; nuanced whiskey undercurrent. Heavy, silky and viscous mouthfeel; rich and oily; gentle warmth.

    Wow! is all one can say when tasting this beer. Powerful flavor nuance with a deep, oily mouthfeel that delivers slyly bold flavors to the palate. There is a wonderful infusion of taste and texture to this beer, something essentially unique that most heavy-duty barrel aged beers aim for but seldom attain.
