Got the snail mail this afternoon. Saw an envelope from the state tax department. Thought oh fuck what did I do now. Filed my state tax return a few days late in May. Was assessed a penalty and interest but I paid it right away so was concerned what the hell was this about.

Turns out it was a check for $400! The state distributed some of the state budget surplus to state taxpayers. Time to buy some more good beer.

We did recently get Great Lakes back in our market, and we were excited by it.
One problem: most of the stock we got in was expired, or almost expired when it came into work. We missed it when it was delivered, but discovered it shortly after.
We likely won't be taking it again, unless we are assured the dates are good.

My son and I are trying New World Beverages' 1947 Premium Lager.

 

This sauce is awesome.

 

Trying Oberon this time around, and as per usual, here's my review copy-pasted

"As a wheat beer, it was a bit more bitter than I was expecting it to be, but after that initial surprise, I think my overall verdict is that this beer is... Okay. It's nothing spectacular, but it's serviceable. Not the worst beer I've ever had, but most definitely not the best

I think 1664 Blanc is better, but I also think that this might be better than Blue Moon (it sure as hell is way better than Hoegaarden though, that's for goddamn sure lol)"

I guess I rubbed that Uranus can inadvertently and out popped 8 Billion Genies. Wouldn't ya know? It's not my favorite DIPA from Half Acre (*cough* Navaja!!!) but for tonight's nostalgia painkiller it'll have to do.
