TRAGEDY, dear friends. Tragedy struck my humble small town beer store today.

You see, Bourbon County was due to (finally) arrive in my glorious home state of Vermont. I was promised it would all be here, after an interminable wait I could (at last!) buy this stuff in stores. I mean, in a beer wasteland such as the Green Mountain State, it's about time something good happened, right?!

Now, picture the scene:

I have to cross the street to get to my beer store when I get out of work. Sometimes, it can take 30, 40 or even FIFTY seconds to get there. Rush hour, we're talking two minutes. Just dreadful, the things I go through for a beer.

I strolled in at 5:15 after another grueling 7.5 hours at the job. Yup, it was a brutal day. The excitement of what was to come hung in the air. You could cut the beer-sexual tension with a knife. YES! I get to purchase this nectar of the Gods right here!

Opened the door, walked in, greeted my friendly beer store owning good dude, Matt. Store was so busy, I saw two people looking over a glass cooler full of beer in the back. TWO! Hopping tonight, I can see why people always say there's a rush on Bourbon County.

"Bad news, not every store got it all," Matt said. "We got shorted on the Coffee. Didn't come."

(Sound of giant panes of glass crashing down and breaking into a million pieces)

"That sucks," I said in return. This was not good news.

"But I got these, how many do you want?" Matt said, glint in his eye.

Four minutes later, in my car on the way home, CRUSHED from having a part of my Bourbon County dreams smashed to pieces, I turned on some music for my drive. Then I asked the little lady in the passenger seat,

"You okay, babe?"

I should also mention that the Saison du buff was $1.15, figured why not. Then I saw it had parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. And that's just trying waaaaaay too hard if you ask me. We'll see how it is.

Trying to post in this thread for the first time, some boxes full of goodness arrived past couple days.

 

Through a number of trades with generous BAs and some fortuitous bottle hunting trips, I've assembled a Barrel Aged Barleywine collection that I am tremendously excited about.

Definitely not hard to come by. Nonetheless, I was very excited to find cases of this on my way home!

 

Family xmas in rural Idaho is not without its benefits. The Abyss was a 2011, found in the cooler at a drive-thru liquor store in Coeur D'Alene

 

The rest of the midwest haul from November. Unlabeled bottle is sherm1016's homebrew sour brown, reminiscent of La Folie. New Glarus Unplugged bottles are fuzzy, 2 Barleywines, 2 Enigmas, 1 Cherry Stout, and 2 Tyranena Dirty Old Man. Six bottles of Serendipity was nowhere near enough, I have to go back for more soon

The Founders Cerise is a bit out of place, but when you ship home 60 lbs of beer on vacation, gotta keep the old lady happy
