Gateway 2, with John Abercombie, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette. I'm not sure if this album is still in print...anyway I can't find anything from it on the YouTube thingy. It might be listed under Abercrombie's name though...oh well  Unlike the first Gateway album, that was almost rock/fusion oriented, this is much more spacey and subtle in that classic ECM jazz way. Dave Holland is the only one alive from this band now :slight_frown: I did see him and John Scofield live just last month, so that was awesome.

Saint Arnold Eclipse IPA in the glass...

Ocean Republic Brewing out of Stuart, Florida produces “Oktoberfest Märzen Lager,” their 5.6% ABV rendition of a 23 IBU faux German Lager. This was one of the East Coast brews I was able to smuggle back to Southern California from my Florida trip last month.

I have to say it is great seeing some of these brews come out of Florida, or anywhere for that matter in the South. We really owe a debt of gratitude to Total Wine and More for their excellent national coverage and stocking of a lot of the regional favorites. Shipping and distances being what they are, a lot of the regional brewers stay just that – regional! A lot of this has to do with the available distribution of the product and some of these brewers rarely have their beers experienced in the far distant stretches across the US. Beer is a heavy thing to ship relative to cost.

Well, I’ve enjoyed dozens of Märzens this year and am really tuned up to the style, This one has predictable color and carbonation, decent head and vanishing lacing, appearance is a bit cloudy for a Märzen, typically these should pour crystal clear for celebrations in big Maßkrugs. I’m trying to place the flavor on this one, it is a bit different from the other Märzens I’ve been drinking. Sort of reminds me of a batch I did a few years back which ultimately benefitted from extended aging. I suspect this one might too, but too late…. I already drank it! Prost!

I think in the past I have mixed the two but I think you are right. No sense taking the chance. I can go a week without beer. Or can I.

I hope all is well with you.

    Cracked into the Big Box.

Starting heavy. Junie 2022. By Transient Ales. 12.5% Imperial Rye Stout on cocoa nibs and salted caramel.

Aged and probably tamped down on any salted taste but a beautiful beer.
Wife loves it. That's all that matters.

    Cheers....

Now this. A buddy of mine (he's my sons age and drinks good beer) not on BA was out in California for the Viking game (ugh) and saw the Laker/ Timberwolf game, went fishing while there. I never realized that Sculpin was a real fish, caught some and brought it back to the place they stayed at. Said it tasted great.

#2, out for dinner, this is - by FAR - the best beer the restaurant has available.

    That’s all I’ve got.
