Train beer. In a proper Czech mug, this beer is magic. Out of the can in a paper bag? Still very good.

    SAVE YOURSELF, MAN!

Just dump the swill out and buy something with flavor!

He might have some extreme beers sitting around that go too far (alcohol, hops, . . ). Mix the Coors Light with a double or triple IPA that could use a little domestication.

Or cook up some beer brats. Or beer can chicken.

Don't disrespect the brat with that sort of swill either!

I finally cracked open my Pils 8-pack from Sierra Nevada. For my palate, leans towards the Czech style. Flavors attributes are not super robust but i like it better than Summerfest. Not sure if SNBC is going to replace Summerfest. I'll ask when i am at Mills River for the Celly Drippins release on the 21st.
    Cheers!

I don't think that was ever the plan -- and the 2 beers are so different (at least to my Pils-loving palate) I don't think one could replace the other.

Please post back what you learn.

It would also be interesting to know if they are considering other canned format sizes in the future for Pils. Seems that some folks (me included) are not big fans of the small can size.

    Cheers!

Here's another of the 4 different Goldfinger beers that I captured after discovering that this brewery had snuck some of their beers into Michigan. This Vienna-style Lager has undoubtedly the most concentrated, bold malt nuttiness that I've ever had in a beer of this style (without over-doing it). I don't know if the nuttiness is supposed to be more subtle for this style or not, but I love it this way and I don't think any brewery can improve on this. I'm giving it a 5.0 perfect rating.

I think a big amber malt body is what Vienna style beer was until maybe 50 years ago. So the Goldfinger is probably true to a throwback style. In the mid 70s, I picked up a six pack of Gosser (Austrian beer). It was a deep amber and very malt forward, with minimal hoppiness. The Gosser brand now offer a range of pale lagers and a dark lager. Ambers are gone.

So, they've toned down the hop character and I should try it again?

Smoke of Many Fires from Bizarre Brewing in Seattle, a Smoked Lager.

It's a "Table Lager" at 3.2 percent. Extremely thin body and spritzy on the tongue, with a sharp finish. Aroma is very smoky. Taste is quite smoky as well and not much else on the table. Rather bitter and thin with an unpleasant charred aftertaste. From the 16 oz can dated 08/05/25.

I would. I did notice at the end after the beer had warmed up considerably that the hops were showing up, but not too strong. (I usually take an hour before I get to the bottom of my glass.)

To style or to your palate? One thing a Vienna should be, above all else, is elegant. That is, smooth and subtle and never in-your-face with any ingredient.

My first go-round with the Goldfinger Vienna was just too hop-heavy for me.

I didn't read the style definition, so it was to my palate. If "smooth and subtle" is what you're looking for, the version of this one won't be to your liking.
