    Great Lakes Christmas Ale (7.5%):     A Winter Warmer from Ohio with flavors of orange spices, cinnamon, gingerbread, and glazed cherries and cinnamon rolls.

    With all the Holiday Hooplah, and dark beers entering the scene this time of year I feel this always gets overlooked even by myself. Amongst the stouts and such, it never looks that great to me on the shelf, but I remind myself that this is my favorite Winter Warmer based on my BeerAdvocate rating, and I cannot pass it up so I buy a six-pack, wondering if I will regret it.
    All it takes is one scent of this beer. Cinnamon, gingerbread, glazed honey and cherry icing on a cinnamon roll. This is the best Christmas beer I know of, and now a six-pack feels like I short-changed it. This is so worth it.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

    Mildly cloudy appearance with a light, pastel yellow body; good carbonation; dense and lasting head, white and sudsy with a soft, rocky cap; spidery web of foam marks each sip from the glass. Delicate presence of bread crust and lemongrass. The taste builds on the suggestion of the smell; bread crust; lemon pith; a touch of herbal spiciness; mild peppery notes. Medium body; fine residual sugar density; smooth; palate quenching juiciness.

    As the beer warms a bit, the flavors really come together and generate a very pleasing taste profile. I could see this being in regular rotation in my 'Fortress of Solitude' if it were distributed out west, but for now, I am thoroughly enjoying this generously gifted can via Miami, FL way.

    Fine amber tone with a touch of cloudiness; good carbonation; thick head, white and rocky, long-lasting. Nice cereal grain base aroma; ripe pome fruit note. Nice toasted grain base flavor; slight peppery note; slight nutty bitterness. Medium body; smooth with a rich residual sugar feel; warm.

    This delicious and easy-drinking Czech-style pale lager delights the palate with balanced flavors and a low-key ABV.
