Spring beers are out already!?!

 

Very Sssapppy. Trash beer money grab, IMHO, yet rated “Outstanding” by the BA community at large. There’s a sucker born every minute.

 

Dogfish head immort ale. I only have 1 left . Beautiful malt, vanilla, and maple complexity with oak and fruity/raisiny English yeast.

Happy Sunday ba. Waiting for the 1:00 game kickoffs. Into it w/ my last can of BR bba scotch ale, central waters. Nice and rich w/ lots of caramel,

 

Heneken Lager Beer with lunch. That's right, plain old Heneken just like your father used to drink. Actually, my Dad did drink Heineken and I'm old enough to have shaken hands with Veterans of the Spainish American War of 1898.

Light yellow color with white cap.

Aroma of mildly sweet malt and spicy, floral hops.

Taste is a solid balance between malt and hops with the edge going to malt. Malt gives the impression of being slightly sweet yet it drinks dry. Hops hide behind the malt but peek out often enough to be noticed. Finish is clean as is the aftertaste.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Ok, sure, it's brewed for mass appeal but pleasing a lot of people is perhaps a laudable goal. A good, solid lager suitable for most food pairings and most any social gathering.

 

Never had that one, but I have enjoyed Sap. Not much new going on here? I’ve been given many Treehouse beers by Advocates but haven’t visited a brewery location. Do they charge extra for this one? Curious and have no horse in the race. Cheers.

 

Too many coffee stouts in my cellar, but I’m a sucker for coffee with dark maple. Mortalis Adonis from the can today, and on nitro draft at yesterday’s BA stout release.

I didn’t even buy any of the barrel aged Hypnos yesterday, in favor of this. I “need” for Mortalis to get off their marshmallow bent.

Inside the Five Devil Wears Hoodies

 

I had Sap six years ago and, according to my review, thought it was pretty good at the time. This one is totally underwhelming. By comparison, I had Gift of Hops and Haze in recent days and thought they were both quite a bit better than average. These were all gifted to me for Christmas. So many subpar NEIPAs these days — even from celebrated brewers — makes me very reluctant to buy them myself.
