Today’s installment of my continuing Northwest Beer Tour brings us another of the now defunct Rogue Ales “Mom Beer,” a wheat India Pale Ale with Rosehips.

This uuuhhh….. “Beer” shall we say is not a favorite of Beermeister32. This has a solventy taste to me. Again, looking at the canning date of 2/28/24, this IPA, bought recently off the shelf is nearly two years old. Now we know age on a “Big Beer” oftentimes is a good thing, but IPA’s are to be drank fresh, like a glass of Milk or Zinfandel. A two year old IPA isn’t the greatest form.

About the best thing about this beer is the fantastic head and lacing. When I was pouring it all was good until a big spoonful clump of brewing murk dropped into the glass, mucking up the whole presentation. So, we have a glass of murky, solvent-tasting beer. Not one to write Mom about. DUMPER!

I have always enjoyed Red IPA’s, and this is a REALLY good one, IMHO. Substantial caramalt flavors topped with delicious grapefruit rind and mango notes. Absolutely love it.

I wish all IPAs were red IPAs.

 

Last of the three four packs I bought. Really like this brew.

 

This stuff was brewed a little over two months ago and is still fantastic. What was it to start.

 

Taking this Queen to the vet tomorrow for her triennial (?) rabies vax. She despises strangers, loathes vets, and barely tolerates me. Should be a good time.

 

You are a wise beer nerd, IMHO.

Woods & Waters. An IPA brewed by Maine Beer Company. I haven’t seen this one in a long time at the stores I shop but happened to stop elsewhere while running errands today . Should have bought more.
