Sierra Nevada Celebration (6.8% canned 10/3/2025):
An IPA from California with Cascade, Centennial, Chinook for flavors of soapy orange, pine resin, and a smooth caramel malt body.

Drinking smooth, resinous and a nice piney and citrus flavor underneath. Losing it's bitterness, but keeping the pine flavor and resinous notes.

I’m really getting down to the nubbins on my Northwest Beer Tour. So much so that I’m doing a repeat of this delicious Altbier, produced by Alaskan Brewing of Juneau, Alaska.

Earlier this year I did a tour of Düsseldorf and Cologne beers - and we enjoyed poking fun at the silly glassware they use. Unlike the big Maßkrugs you might drink your Festbier in, up North in Düsseldorf they introduced the tiny and pathetic “Becher," literally “Beaker.” So the idea is, you sit around drinking while the beer-tender repeatedly brings you a continuing supply of “Bechers." Little tiny beers, usually about 8 ounces. RIDICULOUS!. Sort of like “Dimers” night at the Down-Under circa 1981 !!!

So anyway, I decided to re-name the pathetic Dusseldorf and Cologne glassware. In the case of the Düsseldorf-style Altbier, the Becher is hereby renamed the “Dinkster” !!! (Cologne, your equally ridiculous Stange glasses are hereby re-named the "Dorkster!”)

So I’d never say suck it up, but in this case, maybe sip it up. That’s all you’re going to be able to do with the Düsseldorf babyflaschen !!! Prost!

Its a beautiful day out...what does that mean...oh I don't know...maybe picking up Karl Ove Knausgaard's new novel at my local Brazos Bookstore. Then walking down the block to one of my favorite old school dives...Under The Volcano (which is also my favorite book). As I start this big doorstoper of a novel out at Volcano's amazing patio.

A Paulaner Hefe is first...actually had a couple of these

Then Saint Arnold Banger IPA. With their beef tips and German potato salad. Its not the best thing ever, and there is a bit of shrinkflation, but its way better than most dive bar food

After Under The Volcano...on to another dive bar...Poison Girl...

One of the best Whisk(e)y bars around...but also has a good beer selection. Paradigm IPA, and Still Austin Bourbon...

Ridiculously great artwork on the wall, with all the ridiculously great and expensive Bourbons I can't afford

They do have it in 6 and 12 packs, but, I think it was a one time release of them in that format.

What a great set up between the cigar, classic Chicago IPA and auxiliary bottles in the background. Living life to the fullest!

San Diego is my favorite large city to visit beyond visiting family in Vegas. Nice you were able to close that huge sale and enjoy one of the greatest cities to be in, especially in the Winter.

They have some solid beers and also some really good ones, so hope you get a chance to try more selections.

Always love what you share, including your jazz selections. Enjoy taking the time to listen, including Horace today. Cheers!

That is an excellent rock. Nevada is a great state for exploring including for rocks.

The Legit Monsters of the Midway!
