Tired Hands Alien Church IPA, this isn't tasting great. There's no date on the can but I'm guessing 2-3 months old, drinkable but not buying again.

completely different beer than the last one
After a palate cleanse of a cheeseburger
I return with an APA with, I sense, the special Catskill head waters
Finest German style pale ale, lemony, peppery, I feel the minerals

‘playing this tune in my community concert band
    Cheers BAs !

I've noticed Alien Church being not what it once was, even when fresh. So sad!

Good evening BAdvocates. My fourth consecutive day of drinking a Great Basin FIRELIT Haze. Will be back home to my beer fridge tomorrow, and will hopefully drink a different and better brew! Excited for this mini-vacation of sorts to end!

    Cheers everyone! :beers:

Decided to try dining out one more time while I’m here. $14.48 for a sandwich, at least it was cheaper than that pizza  If you’re not eating at a casino or a dive, the restaurants here are out to gouge!

    Happy BAnniversary @thehyperduck!

Cellaruary continues with a Dogfish Head Utopias Barrel-aged World Wide (Imperial) Stout, 17.3% ABV from 2019. This is the oldest beer in my cellar. I've failed to shrink my cellar in February due to new additions while continuing drier January, but at least I'm consuming my oldest beers.

There’s every manner of beers coming out of San Diego these days. Beer Loving Daughter #1 even recently moved to San Diego. What, to get away from the SoCal LA County rush? How about heading to the San Diego beaches? Me thinketh not! Has to be for the beers! She even send me a map showing 228 San Diego area breweries! Guilty as charged!

Thankfully, the trend towards great tasting Lagers and historic brews continues.

A few days ago it was Eppig Brewing’s tasty 1880 lager. Before that, I’ve heaped a huge amount of accolades on Alesmith and their noteworthy Anvil Pilsner, another San Diego brew with 1930’s can graphics. Here we go again with another throwback brew. Mission Brewing's Old Mission Lager doesn’t only pay homage to the original San Diego Mission Brewery, but it re-creates their original 1913 Pre-Prohibition Lager recipe!

So what’s an authentic 1913 recipe taste like? Well, it tastes a lot like an original 1912 recipe batch which Beermeister32 brewed a couple years back. These original Lagers really are simple things, back in the day there just wasn’t the huge amount of hop choices available, and you brewed with whatever grain you could get shipped on a rail car parked next to the brewery loading dock. It really was simple, malt and whatever hops were available. Corn? Maybe. Rice? Well, the adjuncts and extra stages like rice cookers were rarely there.

Mission’s Old Mission Lager is a 4.5% ABV brew with a very low 10 IBU. I’ve seen higher IBU’s on some historic brews. 10 IBU is indeed low - The trend towards dropping IBU’s were more of a product of the 1940-50’s. Yes, 100 IBU IPA drinkers, a humble 10 IBU is still beer! Cheers… Dude!

Glass Shadows WCIPA from Ruse Brewing in Portland. Really well done.

Yesterday @celtsfan33 was asking about the wooden contraption in the background. That’s my wife’s loom, which doesn’t have any real project set up on it right now, other than the project of taking up the entire dining room

Here we have a classic West Coast offering - in which seems to be disappearing in today’s world of overly juicy and tropical IPA’s.
