A Schilling Beer/Creature Comforts Brewing collab - Mersey English Dark Mild. Schilling always does a nice job with all the beers they collab on. Creature Comforts has surprised with some of these "classic" styles. They are much more known for the IPAs and such.

 

I like Alstadt, they are a good brewery. Always like to see a Vienna Lager too!

I completely agree with your Hazy Little Thing comments. I think I have had regular HLT at some point, I thought it was well made for what it was (still never gong to be something I seek out). I do still love regular Pale Ale, Torpedo, Bigfoot, and Narwhal though...I will be opening a Pale Ale in just a little bit, for the Illinois/Iowa game. But I avoid all the "hazy little things" for basically the reasons you laid out.

Good couple of days in Boulder sitting as a committee member for my first (and maybe last) PhD dissertation defense. Candidate was in Anthropology and did some great work on the Rio Grande, drought, scarcity, and what's coming. Did a hike with the wife along the Flatirons and it was great to feel good again, COULD have run but holding back to make sure back is closer to 100%.

Well I dropped our daughter off at the airport this morning to complete her first year of college in upstate New York after spring break. Was hoping she’d have a smooth, uneventful flight back, but it was not to be. Her flight from Seattle to Dallas was delayed enough that she would have missed her connection to Syracuse, so now she’s flying Seattle-Dallas-Chicago-Syracuse, with an overnight at O’Hare. I spent a couple hours texting her, American Airlines, and Expedia to sort everything out instead of attending a No Kings event this afternoon as planned. Oh well. Now I just need a good, strong beer—and this is what I’d been planning to open anyway. Hopefully the rest of my daughter’s trip goes OK and she makes it back to campus by early tomorrow afternoon. (I tried to persuade her to go to the University of Washington, which is 3 miles away, but she didn’t want to go there.) Cheers!
