What beer are you drinking now? #4949

I believe Stone Delicious IPA was the 1st beer I posted in the WBAYDN? thread Jan 2021, and it's a distinct possibility it was also the 1st beer I rated/reviewed here.

 

I hope you don’t think that I came off as ‘preachy.” I’m just a bit of a WWII nut and wanted to clarify things. In fact, my great grand parents immigrated to America from Italy too. So my Papa, with full Italian blood, fought against Italy and the Axis. My papa was my best friend and a bad ass. And while enlisted, he got a few tattoos - one in which being a dagger going through the planet earth that he got on his arm. So being a man with tattoos and loving his papa so, since I don’t want any visible tattoos on my body, I got that same thing on my side. (For some reason the earth always looks all oblong and wonky when I take a picture of it. I can assure you that it looks good in person!) Cheers, my friend!

 

As @superspak had mentioned of the crash of 2012, it got me curious to what my first post in WBAYDN was. If I had to guess based on what I was drinking it most surely was either Dogfish Head or Stone. I also was drinking a lot of Italian craft later in 2012 and 2013.

 

Not preachy at all, Raul. I actually appreciate the WWII history discussion because I have always been fascinated by that era too, especially with my family background.

Also, that tattoo sounds incredibly meaningful and honestly very cool. I really respect tattoos tied to family history and service. My father was in the Navy as well, and I am planning a tattoo for him someday too.

My dad served in WWIi. North Africa, France, Italy and then on to Germany. I still have his dog tags.

Did some digging and looks like around late June 2016 around 8 months after joining the conversations on the site here I started posting to WBAYDN? right around when I started getting regular access to Trillium and their new cans, starting with Artaic the raw wildflower honey DIPA that became Cutting Tiles and then an Evil Twin x Trillium collab Trillikini can. @TheIPAHunter himself was among my first likes in the thread here. I became a pretty regular around then and joined some NBS not too long after that, before it became NBW. Cheers!

Good day BAs! Thanks go out to @TheIPAHunter for opening the thread and giving us a thought-provoking question! I don't know what my first post was in the WBAYDN? thread, but my first posted review was 07/12/13 - Karbach's Hopadillo in NBS. Back in those days I was drinking a ton of IPAs and PAs, particularly Terrapin's Rye Pale Ale, along with driving to Terrapin in Athens - Mrs Lizard put up with me for some reason. Since Terrapin sold out, I haven't been back to Athens.

Today's Breakfast Beer, a routine brew I buy by the case (just picked one up this morning):



On another subject, my dad served in New Guiana and the Philippine Islands in WWII. I just finished reading David Nasaw's "The Wounded Generation" and William Manchester's "Goodbye, Darkness" (Finished last night) - these books told me more about his experiences than from anything he ever told me.
