I haven’t had this iconic beer for ….. 12 years? Bracingly bitter (which is my old beer nerd sweet spot), it’s better than I remembered it being, so much so that I need another 6er. Absolutely love it.

Fred Tackett is amazing. Little Feat/ Molly Tuttle are playing at the next door village shell Saturday night, GA for $70 per. I think it would be a great show but my wife thinks GA will be a cluster fuck, so

Tree House - California Dreaming west coast style IPA with Mosaic, Strata and Cascade hops now. I love the hop flavor profile in this beer, like straight blueberry, strawberry, red berries, blackberry, ruby red grapefruit, lemony orange citrus, tropical mango, pineapple, passionfruit, guava, caramel malts, toffee, honey, slight butterscotch, and dank resinous floral earthy herbal pine. Drinking great still and this is a pretty interesting and unique malty bitter IPA. Cheers everyone!

Ok, Ok, so a bunch of you like Allagash White and looking at your remarks, anxiety definitely set in following my dumping of the brew. You aren’t alone, that dumping even caused discord within the Beermeister32 peanut gallery! Beer-Loving Daughter #1 and Beer-Loving Daughter #2 chimed in to give their two cents worth. Says #1: “Hard disagree over this one! Love Allagash White. Maybe it’s better on tap? …. Etc”. Basically taking me to the woodshed for dumping it!

Truth is, phenolic flavor perception is one of those things which are highly dependent on your personal genetics. Researching this a bit, phenols in beer (such as 4-vinylguaiacol) may be perceived pleasantly or overwhelmingly harsh based on your genetic makeup. Bitter taste receptor genes (TAS2R38) and burn receptor genes (TRPV1) come into play, as well as other receptor genes with variations such as TAS2R4 and TAS2R13 all factor in to whether you enjoy the phenolics in beer or are turned off by them!

Genetics, huh? I guess this means that Beer-Loving Wife #1 and I need to have a sit-down to discuss possible alternate historic parentage lineages of Beer-Loving Daughters #1 and #2, respectively!

Today’s chug is an oldie but a goodie! Well, not as old as it used to be. As we all know Fat Tire was re-formulated and re-marketed a few years back to take it out of the “Amber Ale” category and lighten it up into the “Golden Ale” Category. Beermeister32 preferred the original, natch! I can remember ordering up a pitcher of Fat Tire up in Washington in the 1990’s, it was terrific! Wish we could still get the original formula, it was better. New Fat Tire, like “New Coke,” another brilliant marketing move. Cheers!

This is how I felt about Samuel Adams Boston Lager too. I almost wish they just made a "light" version, like Fat Tire light, Boston Lager light, because I liked the old amber lager and Vienna lager better than the new recipes that were made to be more bright and crisp. I liked the old Fat Tire amber ale and the old Boston Lager Vienna style more than the current representations. All good though, there are plenty of other beers out there for me. Cheers! :beers:
