What Beer Are You drinking Now? #4969

1) Hop Butcher Bughouse Square (7.5% canned 3/2/26): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin for flavors of orange, tropical grape, berries, mango.
versus
2) Hop Butcher Arid Grit (8.0% canned 4/7/26): A NEIPA from Chicago with NZ Cascade, Mosaic, Riwaka, Rakau, Nelson Hop Juice for flavors of tropical white grape, juicy pineapple, berries. (Mismatched the two blind)

Hop Butcher IPA Battle featuring some Nelson. First is Bughouse Square. Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson. Perfect hop combo and one of my favorites from Hop Butcher. Approaching some age however at three months. Citrus, white grape, tropical berries. Hints of floral. Juicy, tropical. Clean and smooth, hides the alcohol well and amazing drinkability.
Next is Arid Grit. Mosaic plus a bunch of New Zealand hops with "Nelson Juice". Tons of tropical grape and sweet tropical fruit. Amazing New Zealand hops flavors and outstanding IPA as well, but drinks a bit heavier, hotter, sweeter. Bughouse is the best Hop Butcher IPA I've had in a while and too bad my last one. I thought age was going to be the winning factor here, but I was wrong.
Winner: Hop Butcher Bughouse Square

 

Several lawns mowed this afternoon, and other chores done - letting a large homemade mushroom pizza rest before I dig into that!

Toppling Goliath West Coast Sue (6.3% canned 5/12/26): A WCIPA from Iowa with Citra and Mosaic for flavors of tangerine, tropical berries, resinous flower and pine.

West-Coast Sue. I think this drinks more like "American Sue" because it's more of a traditional American IPA. Extremely drinkable and I like it though.
