    I just love the number of breweries making San Diego home, actually nearby Carslbad. This is my first Burgeon beer and I hope there’s plenty more to come! Wow, a great Pilsner, I think some of these breweries are finally getting these Euro-style Pilsners dialed in!

    Good clarity, head and excellent lacing, brewed with German malt, German hops and German yeast, yeah! I’m assuming with San Diego area water! Great job here, 5.2% ABV, unlisted on the IBU’s but my guess is around 30.

    Burgeon is a company REALLY into the environment, thus the name Pistil Pilsner, which sort of refers to the female part of a flower. Took me a while to figure that out. Pardon my crude “French” I but first read it as “Piss ‘Till…. And was looking for “Midnight,” “2:00 am," or “You're sober!” .... or something else I was missing! Beermeister32 firing on 7 cylinders this afternoon obviously! Duh!!! Great beer! Prost…. Dude!

    Pours out a clear brown color, appears near black and opaque in the glass; thick, light khaki colored head, densely foamy, long-lasting. Fine smell of cocoa powder and light brown sugar; baker's chocolate; bare trace of alcohol simmering beneath the sweetness. The taste builds upon the aroma; brownies and fudge with a boozy edge; milk chocolate sweetness; charred dark grains; whiskey. Heavy, chewy body; soft and velvety; nice touch of alcohol warmth and dryness.

    What a difference a fresher version of this beer makes. This year's beer is phenomenal, especially with the taste and mouthfeel. Just a gorgeous, beautifully drinkable dark ale.

    Dark brown body, mostly opaque; thin, wispy light khaki head. Light chocolate aroma with a dash of bourbon lingering in the background. Bitter chocolate flavor well-tempered with an infusion of bourbon. Medium-heavy body; fairly smooth mouthfeel; boozy warmth.

    This beer is usually released in April per the brewery's web site. That makes this specific beer nearly two years old. Overall, I find it a nice tasting beer, but think its age may have diminished its appearance and aroma.
