    Kinda paradoxical, no? ;-)

Also, which one are you referring to? Heady? If that's the case, I'm confident it'll do just that.

Very true—I only kind of realized as I was writing that post that they were all DIPAs (plus Hoponious). What can I say? Freshness makes a world of difference.

That, and Palate Wrecker actually lived up to its name, at the very least. (And Heady really is that good.)

Rochefort 10. It was early on in my beer exploration and I was blindly trying things based on what I had before. Ended up trying Belgium beers since I had palm, then st martin tripel. I was expecting another average beer and was pleasantly surprised to say the least. This was before I found out about BA or RB or anything like that.

I did this same thing with DFH 90 minute although I hadn't actually tried it yet. Then not only did I learn that fresh is a huge key, but I didn't even like the beer much!

Abrasive exceeded expectations as did zombie dust. Schlafly Tasmanian IPA continues to blow me away compared to my expectations. Lastly, backwoods bastard far exceeded my expectations.

Stone Ruination. Why? Because I wasn't really sure about the whole IPA business. Had tried a few, but not quite over the hump. Grabbed the Ruination with a random haul, then read about it and expected absolute horror and almost gave it away. Basically, I expected it to be the worst beer experience ever.

Ruination bitch slapped me upside the head and said here we go...get in, hold on, and shut up.

I am still not an IPA addict, but Ruination 'splained it to me and it is now a style i enjoy. For making me dive into the deep end of the pool, it gets my vote - personal game-changer.

Most recently, Palo Santo Marron and Brooklyn BCS both surpassed my expectations. I almost sent Brooklyn an email lauding them for putting such an awesome product out there for so cheap. I never send companies emails.

You should grab some Smuttynose Big A or Sixpoint Resin if you like Malty IPA's. They're both fantastic as well.

Big coffee stout fan, so this one had been on my radar to try since missing out on it last year. Finally getting to try some a few weeks ago, it was even better than I expected; enough so to knock FBS off the top of the mountain for me.
