    First of all, he didn't even post the entire correspondence. Second, he's not offering to send back everything:

    Seems if he doesn't want to send the Hunahpu's, he should just plain send back what you sent him.

    Yes, I electrical ape all of the bottles I ship out. Does it stop leaking, I don't know but all of you other fuckers do it so I just want to stay with the "in" crowd. OP, you do realize that Rarer DOS was a $20 growler of a decent stout, right? I mean, I wasn't fucking around when I thought that what you gave in trade was far too generous for one 16 oz growler of Doug's dong sweat.

      I decided to delay my shipping until I get something straight with you. I was somewhat mad and embarrassed last night over a tasting with the CBS you sent me. It turns out to not be a real CBS. I want to give you a chance to explain yourself before I take any further action or go to Beer Advocate management/Forums with this. Upon opening the bottle we found that there was black electrical tape wrapped on the cap beneath the candle wax which was strange enough. And when we shared it everyone unanimously agreed it was not CBS, was flat and not even carbonated. It appears some one funneled another beer in and re- dipped the bottle in wax. I went further to call founders and inquire about the tape on the bottle and they assured me they would not do that. It would be a waste of production cost to do so. Whether you did it, knew about it, or not I want to know how you want to handle this as you already got your end of the deal and I was shorted. I would accept the Dark Lord (if it is real, I will examine the bottle when I get home) as compensation for what happened and call it even. Or you can send me a payment for my expenses for shipping and the Rarer Dos and I will send this Dark Lord box back to you. If your going to tell me you didn't know anything about this, I'm hoping you can provide the information of the member you received the bottle of CBS from.​

      Whoa, whoa whoa Chris. Cool your jets man. First of all, if you want to contact a bunch of other BA's about my reputation and honesty, do that before you start accusing me of some pretty serious shit bro. You'll find that I've got a sterling record and would never imagine doing anything as you suggested.

      Let's go through your points:

      I bought those CBS bottles at the release, at Founders. As I do with anything I'm going to cellar, I put tape around the cap and wax them personally so as to slow down any potential oxidation of the beer.

      It is 100% not possible that the bottle was ever opened and its contents replaced with some other beer. I for one, wouldn't even know how to do that, nor would I risk my reputation by doing something so asinine. Do you really think if I were some kind of crook that I'd still be on BA?

      Have you ever had CBS? I'm sorry it didn't live up to your expectations but that's not my fault. The bottle was stored in my cellar untouched since the release. I can promise and guarantee what was in that bottle was CBS, straight from Founders. Unless some would-be criminal who wanted CBS so bad, busted into my house, into my cellar, drank the CBS and filled it with something else.

      I opened another bottle in my cellar a few months ago and it tasted fine. Not as good as it was fresh, but it wasn't meant to be aged. Still, it was really good.

      Let me pose a couple of questions to you Chris:

      1) How do I know you didn't really enjoy the CBS and are now just trying to stiff me?

      2) How do I know the RareR DOS growler wasn't filled with something else? That'd be easy enough to do with a growler. I trust you man. That's what BA is all about. It's a community built on trust. I take that seriously

      I didn't stiff you. Did I not send you a nice box before? If I were such a crook, would I really go that far? Come on!

      It's only fair you ship me the Huna still. I think I've explained myself.

      If you want, I'll give you a list of successful trades and you can call them yourself.

      I don't know man. I just don't feel right about the deal. We have had CBS before and it just didn't taste the same. And messing with the wax is just something I wouldn't condone for reasons like this. Not everyone on BA is trustworthy which I know from experience. I just don't feel right sending the Huna out right now until I get over it. You could be telling the truth and for that reason I can send your box back. If I'm wrong sorry for the misunderstanding but it just didn't seem right and I wasn't the only one that felt that way.​

      I still don't understand what you mean by "messing with the wax". CBS bottles come unwaxed. I put tape on the bottle and then later waxed it when I waxed all my other cellar bottles. Here's a pick of the other bottles I did that same day:

      Again, I'm sorry you feel this way, but I'm now starting to think you don't even have the Huna. Or, you're just trying to rip me off. Either way, I'd suggest you reconsider.

    You sneaky bastard. You opened the CBS (first removing the wax because that is how CBS came originally) drank it. Filled it with another beer. Somehow got a hold of a new Founders bottle cap (or somehow just reshaped the original cap). Capped the beer. Taped it so not to be suspicious. Then re-waxed it. Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!:wink:

    Traders' discretion on that one, but three shelf turds for a pretty limited and fantastic beer....not too far off. $4$ is not on, but sometimes it takes what it takes.

    CJS what a dick move! I have traded with Kris multiple times and have been nothing but satisfied. I had a trade with him last summer in which his package was damaged in shipping and he not only made good on his end but went above and beyond. You should be thanking him for putting wax on his bottles as it shows he actually cares about how he cellars his beers. The fact that you are going to hold what is owed to him...what are you going to do, come up to FFF and have Nick inspect your bottle to tell you if it's legit?

    Seriously CJS, you need to send him the Huna. You obviously feel you have a legitimate issue with the CBS, even though almost all of us would disagree, but that is a COMPLETELY SEPARATE trade. The appropriate thing to do would have been to ship the RareR DOS, continue the discussion with him and if you still didn't feel the previous trade issue was resolved to your satisfaction, start a trader beware thread.

    But I guarantee you the results would be the same: everyone doubting your story about the "fake" CBS not tasting anything like your obviously genuine OG waxed CBS that came from Founders.

    I would pay a decent amount of money to hear, not only, the phone conversation with the person who picked up at Founders, but the conversation at the bar among the employees that night when they began discussing the momo who called asking about electrical tape and waxed CBS bottles.

    Wow, CJS is really twenty twelving it up in here!

    I can't be so quick to call him a beer thief or anything of that nature quite yet, because out of all of this, he is only up a single Dark Lord. Not sure a thief would settle so low. I honestly think this CJS guy really thinks he got screwed, but is too stubborn to make it right. CJS, just send the Hunahpus and call it a day, you are only digging your hole further here.
