It's hard to believe how this could happen. The only boil overs I've seen sort of happen slowly, when left unsupervised. There seems to be some...
I've had diacetyl pop up in the keg when it was previously undetected. It cleared up after a couple weeks. I may have brought the keg to room temp...
Batch sparging I regularly get 80% efficiency for an average strength beer. For a low gravity beer (less grain) that gets close to 90%; stronger...
I wonder how many of these changes are related to growth. I'm guessing a lot.
It's just yeast settling. The haze you "want" is due to the hop polyphenols reacting with proteins in the beer.
I've found that unwanted esters form with this yeast as it gets warmer. I always keep it around 60-62F and let it warm to ~65F when finishing.
Toss them in.
I was disappointed last I tried it as well, after being excited to have it in MA. It was kind of "catty" and didn't have those delicate tropical...
I use them to fill everything with no problem, and no adjusting of tank pressure or keg purging is needed. I'm not sure what the post above means...
To be honest, having these readily available have ruined most other IPA's for me. I don't bother getting beer from, say, California, like I used...
While it's not brand new, Galaxy is definitely more and more popular now. It's the current "it" hop if you ask me.
Not many but my most recent: Jack's Abby Excess IPL. In my opinion it's right up there with the hoppy offerings from Treehouse or Trillium.
Not sure why they ever called a Kolsch a Pale Ale anyway...
Maybe with some, but I find with social media you can see when good stores get certain beers in and then know they are fresh. It's way easier now...
Modern Times Black House is the best coffee beer I've had.
For a 7bbl brewery I'd say you're looking at more like $100-200K depending where, construction involved, etc.
If I was making this beer, with 5 oz of Citra, I'd add 3 oz at flameout and then dry hop with 2. Ditch the 15, 10 & 5 additions.
It's not the word itself, it's the fact that not all beer is supposed to be balanced. Yet people use that term in reviewing almost every style.
Balanced Delicious
Day Time, Slow Ride, Easy Jack or prob my favs. Some other good one's out there but also some not so good.
