Smoked malts on their own can be hit or miss but the adjuncts in this one look to enhance that flavor profile hopefully away fro ashtray.
It would appear that 1 & 3 go together, right? If enough time in the fermenter there would not be alpha-a to break down into D. Is that right?

I also didn't say you were making anything up. The have a contamination issue obviously and they are releasing infected beer. Jack explained it...
