I realize that those are all American made but it's hard to beat a fresh Weihenstephaner Original Premium.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for it, because their "1516 Kellerbier" is absolutely wonderful.

If I were stocking up on lagers it would be beers one can find with ease in North NJ.
    Both Brooklyn Lager & Pilsner
    Sierra Nevada Summerfest
    Victory Prima Pils
    Ramstein Amber Lager (NJ local)
Cricket Hill East Coast Lager (NJ Local)
    Anchor Steam
Blue Point Toasted Lager (LI NY)
    Michelob
    Saranac Adirondack Lager

Hahaha - Maine Beer Black Beer Program beers on BA numbers 1 through 11 are listed here on BA, except for number 9 (most of the others are IPAs). Though No 9 is a dry-hop version of the other lager (hoppy Pilsner No 4), which has the most ratings of the group. I'd be really curious to try what Maine does with a lager, of course.

However, lager seems a bit of a broad category for a list-article at this point in time, since lagers generically have seemed to enjoy a slight resurgence lately - but not with a bunch of widely distributed offerings.

    Summit Keller Pils
    Utepils Pils
    Summit Dakota Soul
    Bent Paddle Venture Pils
    Fair State Pils
    Schell's Firebrick
    Bauhaus Wonderstuff
    Schell's Keller Pils

Sunshine Pils is the other for me, with Vliet being an occasional find pre-pandemic.

I'm not complaining, however; there's plenty of other choices here. It just always strikes me as absurd how these articles are titled/presented considering how they tend to focus on beers with limited availability.

Interesting call on the Notch Zwickel, it's off the beaten path as a sub style. Limited availability where I live but a great choice. Anything from JA is worth a look at least.
I would try a Lager from Maine Beer if I saw one because of how good there Ales are.

    Cheers.

But doesn't "limited availability" = hype here?

The lists would not be as 'sexy' if they listed beers that any regular person could buy (e.g., a Sierra Nevada beer).

    Cheers!

The only brewery on that list that I've ever seen their beer is Troegs.
Sunshine Pils was good when I went to visit my sister a few years ago.

Actually I think I also saw a Yazoo beer 10 years ago when I went to Nashville on a business trip.

Was kind of surprised they didn’t list Summerfest.

It’s like THE lager to stock your fridge with right now. Although all the talk about it being more limited this year in various parts would also make it fit right in with this list...

That must have been the first year it was available as a year round offering...because it sure as hell hasn’t been fresh since then.

Regarding the list, I can get Notch Zwickel and JA Post Shift any time. But these are FAR from either breweries best lager offering in my opinion.

And I occasionally see Sunshine Pils, but rarely look at it due to freshness.

My local shop just started carrying Sunshine Pils after my previous order a few weeks ago, so I took a chance on ordering a sixer last weekend. Jackpot! Like 6 weeks old, and tasting great. But, yeah, prior to that it was a rare sight for me too.

Cerebral? Yeah, I'm down with that. Although for me it would be the Vienna Lager (every time).

Port City makes some KILLER lagers. Pretty much anything they put out is a winner. Their year-round Downright is my go-to here in Old Town, but I try anything they put out, lager-wise. Such a quality brewery.

New Realm I can speak on being a solid lager. I’ll pick it up time to time. But not having Creature Comforts Bibo on there? Idk. I’d grab that over NR every time.

& Another vote for Brooklyn Lager. Used to be my go to at a local bar.
Prima I wish I could find fresh down in the south...

Not much to say about this crap-tastic article, other than a total failed opportunity to showcase the diversity of the lager. Seven pilsners with a few other pale lagers thrown in for good measure. Gimme a bock or dunkel, at least!

Yup, and Victory St. Victorious would have been one of the beers listed. But sadly this beer is no longer brewed because people won't buy this sort of beer. Instead we can now buy Juicy/Hazy IPAs from Victory.

Well, at least they came out with a new beer of Victory Classic Lager this year, so we have that going for us.

    Cheers!

I'm not disagreeing with Mr. Holl's point here, but I always chuckle when I see this stated because it reminds me of the notion that when one sees media with the warning "for mature audiences," it is often an indicator that the content will be juvenile. The mature craft beer scene seems to oddly fit. Now can someone please pass me my peanut butter, jelly, and marshmallow fluff stout in the Super Mario glass?
