Day 8 is here and I get to share some beers with @tsgooch79 and some other friends.
Day 4 was Bourbon Antead (black wax)
Day 7 was Coconut vanilla (silver wax)
So Day 8 from @Syracuse12 has to be white wax Antead - vanilla, chocolate, Strawberry !!
Opened it up, and... another black wax antead?? Ok... so Dennis got confused and sent 2 bourbon Anteads ? I’m not gonna complain !!! Until I take the first sip .,. Whoa.... there’s a ton of vanilla and some nice maple upfront. Couple more sips and I can tell it’s not Antead. Not as roasty, and this is a little smoother. My buddy is picking up Cinnamon spice (I think he’s got some buffalo chicken dip still on his palate).
No idea what this is, so last second guess would be some type of Kane anniversary stout.
Kane - 2922 Anniversary ale. Blend of barrel aged stouts on vanilla, cinnamon and maple. I’m not super familiar with Kane, but this was a banger !! Thanks Dennis !!
I always try to open up a voodoo stout or 2 when Gooch is in town. The SP Kriek from his sender was also very good, nice sour go break up the stouts. I must say, the Kane stout definitely held its own against some big stouts. Just as good as Summagick. Overall great night. Penn State won, Ohio state lost. Sad there’s only 4 more days left.

Im a little behind on posting and a day behind on drinking, sorry @mervmurry.

Day 7a poured that murky dank color only barleywine can give. Smelled sweet. Taste followed. Nice flavors of Carmel and raisins. This one is very good. Jackie O's.

7b I assumed was also Jackie O but couldn't figure out which one. Lots of vanilla and barrel. Could there be coconut too?

Thanks Merv. These were both very good.

Since I have some catching up to do, thought Is have s cup of coffee to start the day. Gotta go to the mall with the daughter, lord knows i need this...

Dark pour, lots of tan head. Smells of coffee with vanilla creamer. Taste gives me barrel, vanilla, and definitely coconut.

Imm assuming Hoof Hearted but not really sure. Whatever it is, I like it.

Thanks @mervmurry for an excellent cup of coffee to start the day.

Day 8 stout from @core42. Half a day behind as I had a party to attend last night and intended to drink day 8 stout after until the party ended up going to after midnight and I had a 730am flight this morning.

    Sooo... catching up!

Pouring into what I'm guessing will be pgw. Jeff has made sure I'm well acquainted with the Transient Uckleys and this tastes like that with probably some maple syrup. Soooo... Canuckley?

Yep! Damn good beer! Thanks Jeff!

Opening my belated Day whatever from @Dad_of_Rad ...

It’s a BA Stout, which I probably could have figured out before opening it. The black bottle cap doesn’t help much, and this is tasty, but not particularly complex. A few dominant flavors. Number 1 flavor is coconut. LOTS of coconut. I think even tiny coconut floaties. And I actually was telling my (non-beer drinking) son yesterday the fact that I usually DON’T like coconut, but love it in beer. Number 2 is vanilla. I love vanilla, especially in beer. Number 3 is Barrel. Clearly Bourbon barrel. Lots of it.

So after some, but not too much, digging, I’m sure this is a coconut-vanilla-BBA Stout. And a damn good base stout, but the three aforementioned flavors hide that. I won’t even venture a guess before jumping to the reveal...

This one’s Transient Blanton’s BBA Neckbeard Nectar (collab w/the Beer Cellar). The name rings a bell, but no way I would have guessed it without vanilla and coconut in the name. This is really good, and improving as it warms up (although it was never refrigerated). Thanks Benji!

Okay working on day #9 here from @treznor. Different shaped bottle than most 500ml bottles. [IMG]
Beer pour a dark Black, so I'm assuming a stout nose leads to a stout non barrel aged. I've got cocoa and some sort of nuts here but not sure which nuts I'm assured they are not mine.
Okay on to the reveal. Not really many clues as to who or what this is. Good solid beer with some nuts in it.
Okay so the reveal is Worth & Ruin an Imperial brown ale with Cocoa, toasted peanuts and toffee. I'm thinking I did pretty well for an old man here. got most of the adjuncts. I've never heard of the brewery but this is what this is all about. Good solid beer in this style and much enjoyed. Thanks Mike!

Day 8 courtesy of @Dicers - plain silver cap and once popped I see the familiar thing on the bottom of the cap- same as the previous day, so I immediately think Hill Farmstead again, what a treat.

Pours very light, which I needed. Very light and tasty, no fruit, but there is something in there I cannot pick out.

Shared with my brother, we both absolutely loved this beer, although we couldn’t guess accurately, I can assure you we both thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

2018 Vera Mae, neither of us had heard of this beer (I can count the Hill Farmstead beers I have had on 1 hand, so obviously far from an expert here) but it was delicious. Thanks Seth.

Sneeking suspicion I am in for a stout tonight, given the last couple lighter nights, getting myself ready as we speak...

Day 9 from @PassMeAZima brings a 750 ml bottle with a black cap. I can see some sort of white logo on the cap, so I grab #pgw just in case. Upon removing the cap, I’m greeted with a cork and the fact that the cork broke during removal, I’m confident that this is a Cantillon.

The pour is a nice golden color and the aroma is pretty unmistakable apricot...I have a feeling that I’m looking to solo dome a Fou Foune.

I was a bit stumped on this one, figured it was a barrel-aged stout. Maybe brandy-finished or something? It had a bit of a fruit/dark fruit / brandy-like element to it.

Cork says Manic. I tasted pineapple, maybe some tart cherry and brown sugar? I'm guessing it's a pineapple upside-down cake mead.
Close, but not really! This is great. I was imagining enjoying this in a tiki glass on the rocks.
Tons of character from the wood and the spices, mango is somewhat subtle but compliments the pineapple very well.

    My first Manic! Thank you!

    Day 9 stout from @core42.

Until I'm given a reason not to, I'm just going to assume the Transient glass is pgw for stouts

Definitely doesn't pour as dark as I'd expect a stout. I'm wondering if Jeff took a bit of liberty in the definition of a 'stout' for today?

Smells like a malt bomb, just the ways I like 'em. I'm expecting a decent hit of barrel from the nose as well.

Tasting it confirms this absolutely isn't a stout and Jeff is trying to be sneaky. Tastes like an absolutely beast of a barleywine with some pretty big barrel characteristics, but the beer is big enough that it all blends together nicely. There's a hit of a little additional sweetness on top of what you'd expect from a barleywine, so maybe some maple in there somewhere?

Transient Neckbeard Life, double barrel barleywine (bourbon and rye whiskey barrels blended), with barrel aged smoked maple syrup and toasted pecans.

Don't really get the pecans, but with so much else going on I'll trust that they're in their and just tough to distinguish from everything else. This is really a wonderful barleywine. Totally blown away. Thanks Jeff!

With this being a 16oz can, I guess it might be something hoppy from TH, but it pours pretty damn black. Thought I choose the wrong glass until I tasted it. Was pretty sure it was a TH milk stout, but I was getting some sort of nut on the nose. (I know, Thats what she said). Couldn't taste any almond or pecan, so wasn't sure what it could be. As it warmed the only thing I was certain was that it had chocolate.

Later that night I broke into my Day 8 beer.

Now, I'm calling shenanigans because Kyle teased a Dark Charge beer and looking at the pic I swore this was it (due to the red wax). Pour was dark as expected but no cherries present. Hmmmm...mountains of chocolate though. And this thing was smooth AF.

Also, the pictures anyone in this thread has taken of these never does the color justice. Beautiful beers.

Melovino - Loss of Innocence, whiskey barrel aged mead. There’s the boozy flavor. Where was I getting berries from? Haha. Thanks Dennis, tasty stuff. Gonna have to finish this bottle today.

Day 9. It’s going so fast. @Sassyshe888 planned 2 meads in 3 days. And my girlfriend loves her some mead. It was a great nightcap.

Tons of sweet dark fruits. I always have trouble pulling out exactly what fruit is in dark meads especially if there is more than one. My guess was cherries with something else dark like blackberry or black currants.

I was close-ish. My first honeypot mead. Glad there are more great meaderies popping up. Black currant and blueberry with vanilla. Black currant definitely dominates. Very delicious mead though. Thanks Sheila!

Raspberries and light funk. Tastes like fresh ish lambic? Going to guess Framboos. This is light on the mouth and has some non overpowering acidity. FiL not a fan and GF drinking mulled wine so this baby is all mine.

Hommage I don't get cherries ( I did slightly after it had warmed up more) haven't had one of these in a long while and this beer is magnificent. Can't wait to see what the last 3 days bring but I'm happy @Bum4ever was my sender! Thanks Josh

Day 9 from @Dicers - I know everyone is saying it about their respective senders, but Seth is absolutely killing it with these 12dox.

Massive white was on the cap, I knew I was in for a stout tonight. Wax is thick, no discernible marks on it indicating who it’s from. Pour is dark and thick.

Initial sips say this is all maple. I get barrel, but I’m a bit confused as it almost tastes like a rum barrel. I do some major sleuth work on Seth’s Untappd account. I see he checked in 1 bottle with a similar wax. Sweet disposition by WeldWerks and Mikerphone. More sleuthing and the wax on that bottle seems to have the WeldWerks logo on it, so this can’t be it right?

As I sip, I start getting vanilla on the finish, this has to be sweet disposition- it fits the bill.

Double barrel sweet disposition! I see now why I got rum, and why the wax wasn’t pressed with the logo (I was looking at the wrong version of the beer).

    Unbelievable beer, thanks Seth!
