So sad that this incredible 6 days has come to an end. Even more so though, I am so happy that it happened. Chris, @soma27, this was an awesome box you sent, way above and beyond what I would ever imagine receiving. Thank you so much (I know I’ve said that a bunch) I thoroughly enjoyed each and every day.

My final day from @robgage was my favorite. I immediately picked out rye barrels. Little did I know it was aged in rye and bourbon barrels. Such a treat. Thank you so much Rob for bullying me into this. It was a blast.

 

Last day of the DoX, here we go. This one pours dark as the night with very pleasant toffee colored head. Oily and viscous, but not boozy. There’s a bit of sweetness mid palate, finishes with nice light roast and a bit of vanilla. Don’t think this is adjuncted, but could be wrong. Maybe Kane based on shape and wax?

 

Because I'm awful, I've been slacking posting my days from @blassor.

Day 4:
Day Four was an awesome saison. Solid grape or wine barrel notes (maybe even both?).

Reveal shows Vader Seizoen from Forest and Main. New brewery. This beer is great and completely hides the 9%.

 

Day 5 from @blassor


Bottle format, wax, and the fact that it's from Brando makes me think it's Kane.
Got some prominent barrel and some booziness but no adjuncts.

Reveal is 3285 Anniversary from Kane. I've tripled the number of Kanes I've had this week. Thank you so much, Brandon!

 

Day 12 reveal- Brew Gentleman Doublemex. I love cinnamon and coffee and these two work great here. Again, thanks so much @Dave_Treat and @PA-Michigander for the great 12 days, I can’t thank you guys enough.

Day Six from @blassor:

A nice dry, slightly tart saison. There's a bunch going on here and it's really good.


Reveal is Lemongrass Ginger Komboucha Meerts from Funk Factory Geuzeria. I've had several Meerts before and this is my new favorite. So good. So awesome of Brandon to ship a bottle of FFG, it's the kind of generosity that Locals are known for.

Thick white wax on top that doesn't really give me any clues (maybe it should? The wax is a bit different than white wax I've seen used elsewhere). Reminds me of my last beer (Homes Ozzie Doozie), so I'm guessing Homes but not sure on the specific beer. Lots of sweetness going on, some coconut but not anywhere near as much as Ozzie Doozie.



Homes Permanent Homes. Very delicious! Similar treatment as Oozie Doozie but slightly different adjuncts. Outcome is the same, amazing beer!

Once I unwrapped the top and saw the cap, knew what this was. Have never had this, and while it's not necessarily a "want", it's one I've always been curious to try, so this was a treat to see. I'm quite enjoying this. Didn't know what to expect going into this.

Took the first few sips cold, and thought peanut butter right away. After letting it warm some peanut butter wasn't right, but close. It was a standard 22 oz bottle so had no idea what the brewery could be.

Yesterday’s day 11 enjoyed high in the Rockies.
Cap tells me modern times so I know I’m in for a treat. This stout has a ton on banana on the nose and taste follows suite. Very smooth easy to drink brew. Enjoyed sharing this one with the wife. Reveal time.....

Sadly the final day of Dox from @Dad_of_Rad. It's been a blast.



I felt a thick top and assumed cork and cage, but opening up I see black wax. The cap tells me this is 3 Floyds. Nose is whiskey, licorice, soy sauce, some smoke. Taste is caramel, cocoa, molasses, cherry, and bourbon. There's almost a little spice on the finish but I'm not getting any pepper notes. Maybe it's rye barrel? Mouthfeel is medium, fair amount of carb. Without searching specific years and recipes, my final guess is a cherry ba Dark Lord variant.



My first DL variant, thank you! Its been a wish of mine for a while to try a variant. I was way off on the cherry, even after the reveal there's still some of it though it's getting less pronounced as the beer warms up. The label is awesome too. Thank you Benji, this was an excellent final beer!

White wax with what I can only assume is Side Project pull tab. Nice and tart wild ake or saison. Little bit of funk to it as well. Going to guess this is oude du ble based on @UcDru beer from the other day

Bam! I great way to close out 12 Days.

I have a couple more extras to clean up but will get a kill shot together tomorrow.

 

Day 12. This one from @robgage Tons of barrel, roast, maybe coffee with some vanilla? I assume Voodoo so maybe one of the BA Black Magick. Reveal to come

 

Day 12 from @thebeers I’ve had a few 3F but unsure of this one. I’m pretty sure I haven’t had it. Off the nose and color guessing raspberries and Framboos. Either way this is excellent. Thanks Arthur

Day 5 from @sembo brought another Forager banger. Loads of sweet vanilla and bourbon. Lots of stuff going on here. I love it.

Finishing up this amazing 6 days with some more Zenne! This one is my favorite of the bunch. A little more sweet than the others. I feel so lucky to get to try all of these fantastic beers. Thank you @sembo your box was the best!

Sadly the last beer. @tsgooch79 made it a lot of fun this year. Good beers and a surprise day 0 made for a fun couple weeks.

I'm not sure why, but I was thinking this was going to be dark. Way off. On the pour, I was thinking maybe more peach? I drank one last night and thought maybe it was luck of the roll to get two in a row.

I have no guess. These six days are definitely making me want to do more blind tastes as it's fun and I definitely am a novice.



Being somewhat local to St. Louis, Side Project wasn't on my radar, but new tick and again, nice and smooth.

Catching up on posting.... yesterday was 2 can sam....both barleywines and a nice mix from @Dicers ....new ticks as well. Thanks Seth. Enjoyed these.

 

Today I was told to use the proper glassware.

Getting vanilla and barrel and stout. Man what a great way to go out via @smanson56.

Mmm aged in Buffalo Trace barrels for 18 months on Indonesian vanilla beans.

Leads me into 12B

Tastes very similar to 12A but the vanilla is more prominent but the beer seems a little more thin.

Same base beer, same aging in the same barrels but used Ugandan vanilla beans.

What a fantastic ride I’ve been on the last 12 days thanks to @smanson56 and @dannyfayy

I should also say, thanks to these two extras, killed yesterday, this is the first ever 12 DoX I was able to drink every beer sent before the BIF was over. #lifegoals. Thanks Danny and Sandy!

Sadly...
Day 12 of 12 from @tommyguz poured a dark brown color. I knew this was not a stout off the bat. I got tons of barrel, caramel and toffee from it. I had no idea what it was, other than tasty AF.


ER BA Tenacious Wee! This has aged beautifully. So flavorful and bourbony still 7 years later. I shared this with a buddy and we both thoroughly enjoyed this bottle! Thanks Tom! I promise a kill shot and more commentary tomorrow!


Day 6 of 6 from @Coorsy poured a black color brimming with bourbon. I waited to guess on this one because I knew it was a stout (and not Tete with that same wax). As it warmed I got coconut!!!! I knew this had to be BAFV!


I was spot on! This tasted like a liquid nanaimo bar...no joke. This was a great way to end the days, Corey! Thank you so much for sharing! I promise a kill shot and more commentary tomorrow!


Also, I crushed that tang / orange gatorade electrolyte beer and loved it! I am going to need that for tomorrow! Cheers @Coorsy!

 

And wow, American Solera's Dollar For Dollar. This was completely off my radar, since I forgot they even make stouts. This was a great way to close out the DoX and I thank @Kylo76 from the bottom of my heart of taking me on this journey. Cheers, brother! (kill shot coming up tomorrow)

 

Sadly, the last day is here. My final bottle from @campa86 is a similar size and shape to the Modern Times Glimmer Void from the other day.



Definitely a sour, all kinds of cherry in this one. Based on my research into Modern Times sours and membership beers, I’d have to say this one is Super Kriek.

Day 11 from @oline73

HF cap, I get tons wine barrel. Super refreshing and lots of lemon. I already opened my 3 HF wishlist bottles, so I’m gonna guess a different Civil Disobedience.

HF - Vera Mae. Wow, I never would have guessed it. I had VM almost 6 years ago and I don’t remember it being this good (Steve mentions that Vera Mae was not wine barrel aged back then). What a great crushable beer. Thanks Steve, Theres a little floral flavor when it warms up, and I can taste the dandelions you worked so hard to pick !!

 

Day 6 brings a beer that is quite possibly the darkest I've seen. Dark head, dark roastiness and barrel. No adjuncts detected

Day 12 from @Bum4ever, I can’t believe it’s over.

Weldwerks cap, rust red wax. Lots of barrel, very sweet, I think from AB barrel. Gonna guess DB Medianoche, another wishlist from Josh.

Bourbon Brandy Medianoche, another banger, I had the Brandy part right, thanks Josh !! Great way to wrap up an awesome 14 days !!

Day 5 -



12 oz. Purple wax. Obvious barrel. Pours black. Its a delicious stout.



Black Magick aged in Irish Whiskey Barrels
Honestly, I liked this better than the brandy barrel version. It is fantastic.

Day 6 -



12 oz. Black wax. Pours opaque. Thick body. Lots of barrel. Over the top roast. Maybe coffee? Lots of dark chocolate. A noticeable, but not overly pushed sweetness. First thought was maple, but discarded that on the second.

I was reticent to join the festivities as my beer ammo has been lacking the rare & hyped. But, I am glad I did. Thanks for the push @Dave_Treat (and other Locals who were willing to take that bullet).

Tommy sent a Day 7 beer which will get opened tonight. I will post the kill shot after that has been consumed.

 

Late posting, but enjoyed this yesterday.

Day 12 from @oline73. Been waiting for this one since the box arrived and I had the standard mead extra. It's clearly a standard mead based on the cork. This is my second dabbling in standard, and color me very impressed.



Thick and viscous, leaving residue on the side of the glass after each sip. This is the closest thing to a pips pancake mead I've tasted. I'm getting notes of black berries or raspberries. Then pounded with Maple, vanilla, and nutmeg. Tastes like a delicious piece of French toast with syrup and a delicious fruit compote. I'm in love.

Standard meadery Rise and Shine. I missed the fruit but oh well because this is phenomenal.
