So some local BA's in San Antonio just let a very Unfriendly Spot aka The Friendly Spot have it. You can say it was a mini mutiny that had been in the making for a while. Just curious on BA's opinion on what I consider price gauging. I avoid this establishment but still won't hold back at voicing my opinion. Screen shots to come, chime in BA's.

    FOUL! I've paid 6 something 7.99, and 8.99 (Austin)

That's twice (or nearly that) what other on-premises places have been charging in Austin.

Yea i try to avoid that place, way over priced on just about everything. It is a nice spot but food is not great and overpriced in my opinion and they are flooded with hipsters, but $16 for a BB3 is expensive even for them. It was $7 to go at WoB and$10 for on premise. No idea if they have any left however.

Just what I've thought all along. Here in San Antonio I've seen it as much as $10 and as low as $6 but to total those figures up and charge $1.33 an ounce is asinine. This is establishment is a farce and taking advantage of the gift that SA is trying to bestow for being a craft friendly bar that serves SA beers. (No Pun Intended)

Its a nice location and all outdoors which is nice on a pretty day, but thats about all it has going for it.

LOL. Oh man, San Antonio BAs seem to have soured on this place quick. A year back it was a place that everyone down there was praising.

The price gauging is what created this drastic change in opinion. The response to $16 SA BB3 from Friendly Spot was different overheads per various establishments. However, this place is outdoors with no live music, limited screen tv's and a small section that has AC. Otherwise, the majority of it is outdoors. With such a huge overhead I presume that property sits on a oil reserve. And it's not just the $16 SA BB3. Other beers such as DFH 120 Min etc. have been way over priced.

I believe $2.50 but the insane prices are strictly on craft beer. They seem to prey on the craft beer ignorance that this side of town possesses. Sad fact is just blocks away are other craft friendly bars with competitive pricing. I stay away but tonight all hell broke loose because a Waco tourist called them out on their shenanigans and they danced around the question mentioning they had many economical beers such as Lone Star & PBR.

$16 is way too much. Shit, KBS was going for $6 and its a better experience. I think Chance told be they also had BB2 for $15 a few weeks back. If I can't get it for $7 or under, I won't get it. #nope

I hope someone from Saint Arnolds sees this and makes sure that place never gets the BB series again. There's gouging at $12 and then there's rape. $16 is rape.

That's what happens when you build a fancy new bar without having enough funds to fully finance it, the customer suffers...

Ridiculous. I paid $6, which I thought was very fair, and would have been willing to go to $10 but wouldnt have been happy about it. $16 is simply uncalled for.

I never fully experienced this myself but was once told by a person I was drinking with at the Whole Foods bar in San Antonio that they charged him $27 for a DFH 120. Based on the mark ups they charge this sounds like it could be the truth, plus the guy was a stand up individual.

$6.50 is what I paid. $6.48 is the cheapest I've seen it though here in Austin.

On that note, Jack Mac's in Dallas was charging $15. Pretty sure I'd seen #2 go for that much at Vickery Park as well. Hoping one of the SA reps is reading this!

I called out Jack Mac's on Twitter after I heard a friend of mine paid $15 there. They responded with this:

"sorry bout that boys, price is $10 If you know me you know I am here 7 days a week, its OK to speak live"

I tried to get them to clear up if it was $10 or $15 but they never responded.

That is a ridiculous price, and you should let them know that. Why does this place have such good reviews on beerfly, if all I hear from the San Antonio people on the forums is how over priced and over rated it is?

How lame! I seriously doubt BEK suggested $18-20. If $16 is #veryfriendly then the $6 I paid in San Antonio was #extremelyBFFfriendly. On FB they suggested prices vary per establishment bc of overhead. They seem to have inconsistant responses.;):p:cool:
