I recently went to my local Crown Wine and Spirits and noticed a 6 pack of 2010 SN Celebrations sitting in the freezer section. The guy who worked there told me that he found a case hidden in the back and tried one out to see if they were bad, turns out Celebrations age very well. I popped one open and compared it to this years batch, and I was shocked to say that the 2010's tasted so much better. Don't get me wrong the hop presence was still there, but the malt on the finish was really rich and seemed to linger. Has anybody else tried aging these beers with similiar results?

People do say that this beer is fine to age contrary to the style guidelines.

    I have a '10, '11 and '12 that I'll be doing a side-by-side with. It'll be interesting to how they change.

Actually I remember 2010's being very good. I was disappointed the last two years in comparison.

I did 10-12 a few months back, the 2010 had definitely lost some hops but wasn't bad at all, and the aroma was amazing for some reason compared to the newer batches. It was fun to try but probably wouldn't do it again.

I always thought this was another false Celebration rumor, along with it being brewed with spices... Oh well, I have my SN 30th Grand Cru still aging, which is a blend of Celebration, Pale, and Bigfoot. That will have to do.

Thanks everybody, I was a skeptic at first because I know not all ipa's handle aging too well, if not at all. I asked the guy if the beers had been cold stored for the entire time, and he said they were. He told me that while cleaning out the back cooler, they found a case buried under some other beer, he was gonna toss them thinking there is no way they would be any good after 2 years. So of course he had to try one, was blown away, kept a bunch for himself and stuck one 6er in the front cooler for me. Needless to say, I will be putting away some 2012's in the dark recesses of my beer fridge for another experiment!
