Any confirmation on price of SC this year? I keep gearing $20 a bottle, which seems a bit expensive... :slight_frown:

$20 for a bomber of imperial stout with chocolate...I'll pass. It's been around $18 retail the past couple years and I've passed when I've seen it a couple of times. Expedition is $17.99 for 6x12=72 oz vs. 22 oz. Comparable if not better quality. Cocoa nibs isn't worth that price difference. $20 is ok for BBA, but not regular.

If that beer were called Foothills Imperial Stout, it'd be $12 and sit on shelves. And that's not a knock on Foothills or the beer, just the market. As more newbies enter the scene and are told by Paste Magazine that it's the beer you gotta have, and drive the price up, savvy beer consumers will look elsewhere.

8pp and $15 each. Sounds like there will even be some additional distro of this one:

"I’m sure a lot of you have read how we increased Sexual Chocolate production this year. that does not mean we will have more bottles for sale – it just means we have a larger territory to cover with the beer."

I think a lot of people really only come for the epic bottle share anyways. It's definitely not for the nasty sausage biscuits.

Yeah, probably. But I can appreciate the loyalty people have shown over the years and continue to show. And it's an exciting hunt for new beer advocates. I love the barrel aged version though.

BASC is 20 at the brewery, always has been.
What people are excited about is the bottleshare and reconnecting with folks from past releases. The event is well run and the share is unparalleled around here. I am busy again this year so I can't make it. If I weren't I would likely be right in the middle of it enjoying great bottles with good friends.

Although it is widely distributed, it isn't like shops get cases and cases. It is usually limited so people probably like to go to the release to get as much as they can without hunting it down.

Tradition. @Camel242000 hit on the head.

Though it is distributed, limits are usually one per at most locations as @aleckpa mentioned. You're better off seeking a draft.

Foothills throws a great bottle share. I mean you don't even have to buy anything. You just show up, wait in line and get in and drink great beers with a bunch of people with the same interest as you. It's awesome and did I mention free?
