I like Fremont's Dark Star, also Ft. George's Cavatica. Terrapin's Moo-Hoociato is damn fine as well.

With so many great beers and breweries out there, how can anybody seriously pick just one?

Tree House Good Morning and Lawson's Maple Fayston. Both tremendous with amazing flavors.

Stone IRS is one of my favorite beers. Also I would have to include Ten Fidy, Old Rasputin, and Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout.

I'm only including ones that are reasonably available in the region where they are brewed. Mornin Delight, while no doubt mind blowing, might as well not even exist as far as most of us are concerned. That said:

    FIS
    Expedition
Fremont Dark Star (much better than the BA version, IMHO).

    Honorable Mention: Ten Fiddy

And just a slight step below:

    Old Rasputin
    Sam Smith Imperial Stout

As far as I know; I haven't noticed any barnyard in it, myself. I guess it's possible that they are too young to display it.

The Le Coq stout does have that quality, however, but I haven't even seen that one in years.

In my opinion, there are not a lot of 100% barrel aged stouts out there that are more enjoyable than Peche Mortel.

Always has been and always will be Old Rasputin. It was the first imperial stout I ever tried and I've never looked back.

Ten Fidy and Marshal Zhukov's are close seconds.
