Surprised to see so many folks call the 2011 the low point. Nowhere near as good as the 2010 (my favorite, by a long shot), or the 2009, but pretty comparable to the 2012 (eg-what I expect 2012 to taste like in a year once it's mellowed out a bit). To me, the unmistakeable low point was 2008. It's not the lack of carbonation (I enjoy many well aged beers that have often lost most or all of their carbonation), but the lack of body and flavor. I was looking forward to this one, so I was disappointed to find it past its prime. The 2010 is drinking perfectly right now-I don't think it's going to get any better, so I'm going to crack my last couple of bottles this Winter! All in all a delicious treat, and the salted truffle was a nice touch.

Painfully obvious. People on the Internet misspell words all the time. I wasn't sure if your intention was to type "ouch" or "vouch". And besides, I was in my cups at the time, and the v may or may not have been blurred when I first read it.

    Anyway, I'm rambling... nice nuts.

Can't say for PDX, but it's already started showing up in Seattle.

I'm not sure about others, but personally I found 2011 to have the least amount of flavor out of all the vintages. The chocolate, roast, anise, etc. had faded to the point where I was getting some strange (almost minty) flavors because all of the primary flavors seem to have faded.

In comparison, the 2010 and 2009 had plenty of chocolate/roast character, so I don't expect that the 2012 is going to end up like the 2011 (unless it is normal for flavor to fade, then re-emerge). To me, the 2012 tasted closer to a raw 2010.

It's already landed at most of the places around town. You shouldn't have a hard time finding it.

Also curious if this has hit any of the Portland stores yet (Fred Meyer, Zupan's, WF, etc.)

Thanks in advance if anyone has any info.

There weren't many cases to start with. I heard there were about 520, total, and 100 or so were available at the pubs on Thursday with a 6 bottle/person limit. They were all gone by the end of the day. The rest were supposed to be distributed across 22 states. If that's true, yikes...

Haven't seen it anywhere. Fred Meyer Ballard had a placeholder for it but it was all gone. TONS of Dissident, though. Whole Foods RSQ didn't have it on Friday or Saturday, I bet they got it yesterday when I didn't go by.

WF RSQ had some in Sunday afternoon. I picked up two bottles there, saw about 4-5 others on the shelf (no other larger display that I saw).

    Edit: it was $13.99 there.

Damn. I'll go over there in a second, but I'm sure I missed out.

Here's to hoping I can snag one at Last Drop or 99 Bottles before heading home from work later this week.

I don't understand the panic. Abyss always hangs around for a while.

Strong rumor mongering but I'm not hopeful. It would seem that Olympic Eagle is dropping the ball on this one.

That would really suck. I've been looking forward to this one for months. Thanks for the heads up.
