We got this years in a trade, and it was not very impressive. Not sure if we got a bad bottle or what, but way too carbonated and tasted boring. I drank a Black Xantus after just to restore my faith in stouts. I feel gipped :-/

Well, it does have a "best after" date on it for a reason. I disagree though. The '12 is very good now and very promising for the future in my opinion.

Just picked up a bottle at Essential Market (4th & University) in downtown Seattle. They still have a few left for those who've given up on finding it in the city like I had.

The 2013 Abyss is now $17 at the Bend Pub. Ouch. They've gone from $10-17 in just a couple of years.

Still within market price for a [partial] barrel aged beer these days, but The Abyss always used to be the best buy of the group.

I wouldn't mind the price as much if there were more of a barrel presence...but I've tried '13 on cask, regular & nitro, and this is a beer that - since 2011 - has just gotten flat-out left in the dust by many other BA beers out there.

Hmm. Here in BC we pay $20 for Black Butte and Dissident so I expect this year's Abyss will be easily $25 in BC.

Won't stop me but it's pretty pricy for sure. It's all supply and demand though - demand has skyrocketed while supply has been more steady.

Rather than get this year-old thread started up again, let's start a new one for 2013, ok?
