I like to read or do yard work. How about you?
Off the top of my head; golf, can jam, tailgate/watch sports, fish.
grill/smoke, watch hockey, play video games, watch movies, socialize
Edit: Browse BA, DUH.
Post pics in WBAYDN.
It's like another full-time job.
3. Sitting on patio and doing nothing but relax in the sun
My wife and I used to do Saturday nights where we’d unplug from TV and phones. It’s not happened since my 7 month old son was born. He isn’t exactly a good sleeper.
We’d sit at the candle lit dining room table. She works on a puzzle, and I read or color in her adult coloring books. I’ll pour something like a quad, or a huge stout, that I can really think about while I’m in a relaxed state of mind.
There's nothing better than watching movies while drinking. I've even gotten to the point where I associate certain beers with certain movies. I watched Ong Bak on one of the first times I had Stone Enjoy By, and now whenever I watch a martial arts movie, I crave Enjoy By, or vice versa. That dank green onion flavor and stories set in the jungle go hand in hand in my mind now.
Sit on the porch/by the pool
I'm with @ovaltine on this one. I like to take photographs while I'm drinking. I photograph what I'm drinking, do a little basic editing and enhancement, and post the pic to WBAYDN along with a random thought or two and a half-assed review of the beer.
And grilling. Always grilling.
Watch tv, clean the garage or mow the yard, drink on a friends boat. Outdoor activities seem to go well with beer, maybe not on stupid hot days though.
Yeah a good beer movie always does the trick. Nothing better than a sixer and some 80s schlock. Other than that I find some good music to throw on and let go of the day or watch Red Letter Media.
But anything can be a drinking activity, if you aren't a coward.
Hanging with friends
After a mountain bike ride or surf session
Relaxing and watching tv
Pretty much anything and everything except driving
Listen to music
play video games.
Sometimes nothing at all....just sitting in the yard letting life melt away.
Posting on Ba threads after midnight. Oh. And operating heavy machinery
A. house work
d. falling down music wormholes often started by somebody's WBAYDN post
Honorable mention: reading, fooling around on the internets, kicking Midnight the Cat in the butt, pestering the hell out of good friends with one of my better comedy sets, kicking Huevos the Dog in the butt
Sitting on a high remote mountain peak pondering what has been, what is and what will be
I can’t believe I forgot watching sports and nothing. I had a beer on my patio watching my daughter play and letting life melt away. It was glorious.
driving fast, shooting rifles out into the valley, brain surgery, pretty much chillin
Card games and conversing.
Brew more beer.
I used to love watching the Dodgers and listening to Vin Scully. Joe Davis ain’t bad, but Vin... Legendary.
Play big, open world video games or watch horror movies.
Seizing the means of production.
And sometimes a baseball game on television.
That's exactly right, "don't drink 'n drive, you might hit a bump 'n spill it".
My brother, my friends and I play beer in hand croquet. It's a great old man game. Mallet in one hand beer in the other.
Love to play bridge while enjoying a fine beer. Nice to take one or two out for a mushroom hunt too. Sure tastes good on a warm day celebrating some good finds. But the truth is pretty much any activity is made better with the right kind of beer to enjoy while doing it or after doing it.
I'll be hiking Mt. Whitney this summer, question is: what beer do I bring for the top? Never consumed a beer on a mountain top and that feels like an appropriate one to start.
I wouldn't consider anything that I do while drinking to be an "activity". Being active while I drink is counterproductive and is in direct opposition to the reason that I drink in the first place.
Almost all of my beer drinking is while eating or watching TV.
Grilling, watching a sporting event, writing fiction
1. BBQ: perfect for drinking; I have an old fashioned smoker not one of those new pellet smokers so I must stand by the smoker with beer in hand.
2. Watching sports: can’t wait to drink while watching the World Cup. Great reason to be drinking at 7am!
3. Listening to music: sometimes done on its own or in conjunction with 1. Music can really enhance beer and vice versa.
4. Sitting on the porch: no need to explain. Best on a Friday evening after the work week is complete.
5. Playing video games: I find this less enjoyable as the games get a bit more complex and faster (ex. Fort night and Star Wars Battlefront). More fun with some old school games like Mario Cart.
Is getting drunk an activity?
Spending a beautiful evening on the deck with a beer or two is just about the pinnacle of serenity at this time in my life.
I find that watching baseball is my ideal sports complement to beer.
Lastly, playing cards, cornhole, darts, etc. with some friends and drinking a few (but not thinking at all about what I'm drinking) is what beer is truly made for.
*Oh, I almost forgot...night time while camping, staring silently into the flames with a big, chewy beer.
Exactly the same things I would be doing otherwise except driving.
Your hands must be sore from all the high 5's you get!
2. Ping pong
Oh, that's an easy one:
EDIT - Oh, damn - never mind - Fresno's out of business.
Something from Sierra Nevada, perhaps?
Sitting on the deck listening to Pandora
Watching the NY Rangers
Sitting in a brewery Tasting Room
Post hike beer at the base of the Mountain
