Hey friends, some of my buddies and I are planning on taking a trip to Asheville mid-November. I was wondering if anyone familiar with the area (I've never been there before, but I hear it's glorious) can help me with the ideal place to book a hotel to maximize our trip's potential (it's a beer centered trip). We'll be there for 3 nights.

I would probably look at doing VRBO or something like that.

Thanks! Is there a street or area in particular though to key in on with regards to easiest access to the most breweries?

How is the money situation? If money isn't as tight, then the "ALoft" downtown would be right on the South slope in walking distance to more beer than you can consume in a weekend. I know, I've tried.

I like VRBO, but I've had better experiences with Air BnB in Asheville.
I'd recommend staying within 10 miles of downtown Biltmore ave (think orange peel and Wicked Weed.)
Then take an uber to a restaurant in that area and you'll be able to walk to Wicked Weed, the Funketorium, Green Man, Burial, and several other great breweries.
Then just take an Uber home at night since you'll be plenty toasted.

Make sure you walk around downtown Biltmore after 5pm to see street performers. There was some awesome stuff going on when I was in town this summer.

    Also walkable in that area:

    Hi-Wire
    Asheville Brewing
    Jack of the Wood
    Thirsty Monk
    Weinhaus
    Barely's
Lexington Avenue Brewing (a bit more hike, but easy)
    Bruisin' Ales

Plus a ton more good restaurants, shops, etc.

When you pull up Google Maps, the intersection of Biltmore and Patton is the center of downtown and most breweries are walking distance from there. Aloft is the most ideal location, though you pay for it. I stayed at the Four Points and walked everywhere without issue. There's also a Renaissance across the street from the Four Points.

AirBnB would be better if you are doing one place with a few bedrooms. If you are within a half mile of The Orange Peel, you are a short walk to pretty much everything. Ubers are cheap to get the outlying breweries.

Downtown Inn & suites isn't fancy at all, but it's cheap for downtown.

Downtown Inn has gotten alot better over the past 5 yrs..its not fancy but you cant beat the location and every room has a fridge and microwave, room rates are great esp for a town that doesn't have shit for cabs...I wouldnt go there on my honeymoon but its perfectly fine for a dudes trip (me and my crew will be there Dec 4th-5th)

Depending on budget, I would highly recommend The Haywood Park Hotel. It's truly an old gem and in the middle of the circus! My wife and I spent 4 nights recently and it was perfect. If you get a street view, it's really wonderful.

We always stay at Renaissance downtown and walk everywhere. Right down the street is Pack's Tavern - great beer selection and food. Wicked Weed is a must. If you like sours, WW also has a bar on the south slope called the Funkatorium. Across the street is Twin Leaf- lots of Belgians and the first female head brewer in NC. Just down the street is Tasty Beverage Co. New bottle shop that rivals Bruisin Ales. A bit further down is our favorite - Burial Brewing Co. They are growing and do some fantastic beers. Also, don't miss Thirsty Monk. It's in the purple building. The basement has a wonderful belgian selection and you can order a pint of bacon! Lexington Ave (LAB) has decent beer, but fantastic food. Sierra Nevada and Oskar Blues also have breweries within an hour drive that are worth a visit.

Also, if you are on a very tight budget, Sweet Peas Hostel is above the LAB. It's clean, cheap, and within walking distance of everything.

Bruisin Ales is a good bottle shop. Appalachian Vintner is A GREAT bottle shop. It's always my first stop every time I'm in town. Their 20 or so taps are incredibly well thought out and they have one of the biggest selection of bottles in the Carolinas.

AV and Tasty are both far superior shops to Bruisin Ales for me.

To me, Appalachian Vintner redefined what a proper bottle shop should be.

Hit up Burial Beer Co. A real gem. Plus the giant mural of Sloth and Tom Selleck embracing in a "dude hug" is pretty priceless.
