Will be strolling over to the city for the Pearl Jam show tomorrow. Meeting some college pals from all over. Anyone have a suggestion on some solid places to spend an afternoon not to far from the Consol for some solid food and beer? Lets be real, mostly beer.

    Cheers

Consol is kind of in a shitty area. Your best bet would be Sharp Edge on Penn and 9th; It is a bit of a walk and can be pricey but not to sure of any other options. The downtown area is not the greatest for beer.

Oh, just remembered that Wingharts in Market square had some good beers on tap last time I was there, but cannot guarantee there will be anything good this time around.

Just go to Fat Heads. It isn't much further of a walk than Sharp Edge and both the food and beer are considerably better. There are also 10 other places within blocks. Downtown has some cool restaurants but none have great beer lists.

My recommendation? Anywhere far, far away from the Consol. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mad Mex and Fuel and Fuddle are not too terribly far from Consol...

A bit far to walk, which it sounded like what the OP was looking for.

Sharp Edge would be a good bet. Bigelow Grille in the Doubletree near Consol also usually has some good stuff on tap too, although not really a beer "destination"

It's about 2 miles away, and you have to walk through the Hill District.

Though finding a cab is pretty easy.
