I haven't seen another thread on this in the M-A forum, so here it is: Apparently Almanac will be sending bottles to NYC starting this month. No details that I've seen, just this Instagram post:

Anybody have more information? Who will distribute, etc.?

No news on specific bottles, though I know SKI is the distributor. I'm actually pretty surprised at that given Sarene has been snatching up a lot of quality previously-out-of-market brands - Central Waters, Knee Deep and Thirsty Dog come to mind.

I've had a couple of their bottles (Dogpatch, Pluot) and generally find them a bit too tart for my liking. Perhaps I haven't fully acquired a taste for sours yet. but always nice to have more options!

Product lands at the beginning of next week and then will subsequently be distributed the new couple days afterwards. I've heard Golden Gate Gose, IPA, Dogpatch Strawberry, Dark Pumpkin Sour, Heirloom Pumpkin, Cerise Sour Blond are landing. Not sure what's kegged vs. bottled yet.

Funny, of the ones that I have had I was hoping for more tartness.

    Tap List:
    Almanac Dogpatch Strawberry
Swanton Berry Farm is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Warmed by the summer sun during the day and cooled by humid marine breezes at night, Swanton’s fields grow some of the sweetest strawberries in California. We hoarded these magical berries and added them to our Dogpatch Sour ale before aging it in used wine barrels. This complex beer is our ode to the fertile coastal farmlands of California.

    Almanac Cerise Sour Blond
This beer is inspired by the long and hot summer days in the San Joaquin Valley—the fertile basin that yields much of California’s bountiful produce. This tart blond ale was brewed with Rainier and Bing cherries from Bella Viva Orchards and fermented with our house sour culture and aged for many months in used wine barrels to create a tart, cherry-kissed wild ale.

    Almanac Farmers Reserve Citrus
Citrus and beer have always made a great pair, ever since the first lemon wedge was added to a cold wheat beer. Here we expand on that tradition in a new way, melding the intensely aromatic zest of Buddha’s Hand citrons with the bracing tartness of Bergamot oranges in a sour blonde ale aged in wine barrels. Pair with sushi or flakey white fish or contrast with earthy roasted root vegetables.

    Almanac Dark Pumpkin Sour
A rich and roasty dark sour ale brewed with organic heirloom pumpkins and spices and aged in used red wine barrels for a year. Serve this complex ale as a counterpoint to savory Thanksgiving staples and alongside Mom’s classic pumpkin pie.

    Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine (2014)
The 2014 version is: 50% ale aged in brandy and rye barrels and 50% ale brewed with spices.
Almanac is one of favorite "new" breweries, making delightful, balanced brews that capture the season without being cloying. Released for the fall, the Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine is a must for dinner parties and Thanksgiving! Brewer’s notes: "This velvety American Barleywine-style ale is brewed with over 1,000 lbs of organic heirloom pumpkins and aged in rye and brandy barrels for a year. This decadent autumn sipper pairs well with pecan pie, bread pudding and a warm campfire."

    Almanac IPA
Introducing our year-round Almanac IPA, a West Coast hop bomb overflowing with hop flavors and aromas. We start with a copper-hued malt base of California-grown two-row barley, German Vienna Malt, Crystal Malts and Biscuit Malt. Then we start layering on the hops—grown all along the west coast in California, Oregon and Washington. We combine Magnum, Chinook, Cascade, El Dorado and Simcoe to create our own unique twist on the IPA style with intense aromas of grapefruit and tangerine peel, pineapple and pine trees. The finish has a clean bitterness and light saltine cracker note.

    Almanac Golden Gate Gose
Our Golden Gate Gose is a special draft-only beer inspired by the classic wheat beer hailing from Leipzig, Germany. Traditionally brewed with salt and coriander, our tart California-inspried version is brewed with San Francisco Bay sea salt, lemon verbena and coriander grown especially for us by Dirty Girl Produce in Santa Cruz, California. Fermented with our house saison yeast, this delicate and tart beer is a perfect summer refresher. Pair with fresh seafood and sunshine

I saw that Good Beer posted on their instagram that they got some bottles in yesterday for those that are interested. It looked like 6-7 different bottles but it didn't say exactly which ones.

Just saw the ones listed above at my local WFs (midtown east 3rd ave) as well so I'm guessing they'll be at most if not all the WF locations by now. I had to pass on them this time but will probably pick some up next week.

Just went to the WF in Chelsea and all 5 are up in the front cooler. For non-chilled Farm-to-Barrel ones they are in the back beer section. The Gate Gose and IPA are $9 for the 22oz and the rest are $12.

    Hi y'all!

The last 12 months have treated us NYers well, with the emergence of local breweries like Other Half, Finback, Grimm, etc., as well as other highly acclaimed breweries becoming available in the area, such as Bell's, Central Waters, and Knee Deep.

Yesterday, Almanac hit the stores here, and knowing very little about them, I thought I'd reach out to BA.
    • Are ALL of their barrel aged beers single releases?
    • Does their website keep us apprised of new releases?
    • How much of their stuff is available on shelves in their current distro? Do they turn into shelf turds, or should I grab them as quickly as possible?
    • Is $12 a decent price for their barrel aged offerings?
    Thanks everyone.

I ended up with bottles of Dogpatch Strawberry, Farmer's Reserve Citrus, Heirloom Pumpkin, and Cerise Sour Blonde at $12 each. Passed on the Golden Gate Gose, IPA, and Dark Pumpkin Sour.

It is in another thread in Mid-Atlantic but $12 seems to be the going rate for the Farm-to-Barrel series. You could go to Rattle N Hum for a $8/$9 draft. The IPA and Golden Gate Gose are going for $9 for a 22oz.
