Thanks for posting! It's the benchmark for the style in my opinion where the ingredients complement each other rather than just tasting like an overly spiced mess. I'm happy to hear the abv. was bumped a bit for cellaring. The ones I've had with 3-5 years on them were quite delightful.

Man, I'm getting so tired of Anchor's false claims...(especially now that Maytag is gone - I gave Fritz a break, based on his importance to the industry and figuring in the early days of the '60s and '70s he was too busy studying brewing to do a lot of other research...) but they did not brew the first US porter, wheat beer or IPA after Repeal, theirs was not the only steam beer after Prohibition and they were not the only US brewer dry-hopping or kraeusening by the 1970s.

I've always loved Christmas Ale. The flavor profile is absolute perfection.

Been drinking these for over 20 years. Most years are very good , a few have been stellar. 2012 stands out as a really good batch.

    Enjoy

Ha. The only one of those that I have had was the Ballantine Burton.
