Less than 70 people have 12 Hunas, it's still pretty crazy.

Man a lot of people showed up for this beer today. Surprised me even with the 10 dollar for 4 oz or so. The beer was great, sort of like moas but not as sticky. I'm not sure what bottles were going for around town (heard of one place selling bottles but missed it) but 10 dollars was way too much imo for a pour but you got to pay to play I guess.

Is that what Belmont Station charged?

I really hope some of that money was going to charity.

After tasting it I'm having a difficult time understanding the hype. Good beer...really masks the 17% abv, but even after 3-4 oz's (not sure on what the exact amount was) I found it a little too sticky & sweet.

The price point is/was an entirely different matter..ridiculous. The beer in no manner (IMHO) justifies anything remotely near the $10 for 3-4oz pour, but I paid the $10 so I guess I have no leg to stand on.

I guess I'm responding to the distributors desire to keep the bottles off the secondary market only to have a bottle shop sell pours that pull in over $60 per bottle...nearly twice the price that these sold for in Alaska.

yeah i hear you. and it's all very silly since they'll be brewing a BAFL of it soon enough. but as long as there's an insane demand for it, and there is, there will be some disappointing aspect of how it's distributed.

Yeah it was stupid that Belmont charged that much for pours. I asked many people while there and they were upset that they were charging 10 bucks for 4oz as well. Once again why I think pouring bottles is stupid and really only helps a place make more money.

I'm surprised. That pricing seems really out of character for Belmont Station. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that there were some other factors at play. Maybe we could get a response on here?

I was at Belmont tonight and bought a $10 taster. Admittedly, I didn't read their beer menu very well. I had assumed that $10 would get me a 25cl pour (the second tier on their price sheet). Was surprised when I saw the 4oz taster glass being filled. Oh well, it was delicious and I'm glad I was able to try it.

$5 for an additional ounce at Belmont Station vs. Brouwers' 3 oz. pour, and whatever size Brouwers had (was told it was a sixtel, but could have been multiple) lasted all day long. Yikes.

I wouldn't even say that. It's clearly way bigger and thicker than your "typical" 10-12% imperial stout or barleywine. I actually felt like it was less drinkable than most of the super-big Bruery beers.

But could you taste the rarity and trade value?
