I love ABC, but this sounds like it could be a terrible mess. Or fantastic. Or a terrible mess. Definitely curious.

Aren't they premiering it at The Culmination?

"Brewed with Summit Hops, molasses, dark brown sugar and Italian black licorice. Aged in Rye Whiskey and Pinot Noir barrels with Brettanomyces. Triple fermented."

Base beer 5$, Rye Whiskey 5$, Pinot barrels 5$, Brett 5$, and Triple Fermentation 5$....for a total of maybe 25$ per bottle? Something tells me lots of expensive treatments are going to make this an expensive bottle of a potential terrible mess. Or fantastic.

If they went by those guidelines, their other beers would be $20 instead of $12. I think this one will probably be a few dollars more since its their first time using whiskey barrels and Imperial Stouts are a more expensive beer to brew, but I really doubt $25.

From ABC Facebook, The Darkest Hour was bottled on Friday after almost two years of aging. Now 3 weeks of bottle conditioning. Anadromous went in the bottles yesterday.

As did AK Alive, the new brett beer with Mikkeller.

Something tells me I won't have easy access to these like I've had with most other ABC beers. Really looking forward to these...hopefully.

The bottles are being sold for around $10 in the anchorage area. I had Darkest Hour at culmination. It was delicious. I'm sipping on Anadromous now. I can't say I'm the biggest fan. It's pretty "bretty" but not very sour in my humble opinion. Not what I was expecting based off the description. Maybe it'll grow on me by the end of the bottle.

    Brett doesn't equal sour

I know. The bottle says there are also pedio and lacto as well. It is also labeled as a "black sour ale".That why I feel a bit let down by almost no sourness. The brett flavor was more bandaid like, which I usually like, but in this brew it was a bit overdone for my palate.

now you know how it feels for ak to patiently wait for hoptimum & other ca releases. it sounds like darkest hour & anadromous should make it to locations that normally carry abc. the darkest hour will be more than worth the wait (imho);)

They're at Beer Rev today and I assume Berkeley Bowl and Ledgers will likely get some as well given their usual collection of Anchorage brews.
